Looks like he barely rolled out of bed this morning. Bad first round for him.

    Round 1 Safar 10-9

Kovalev trying to establish his jab, Safar getting in close, working the body consistently, Kovalev tapping the side of his head while in hold.

If anything at all Kovalev's jab is still very good but he seems gunshy with the right and doesn't seem to have steam on it. Safar put in good body work but this is a big fight for him maybe he will tire with nervous energy if he doesn't get Sergey out of here quickly

Kovalev still has a punch I assume but he seems terrified of Safar's job

Kovalevs timing and sense of distance looked off in rd 1, he was reaching with his punches a lot of the time.
Not surprising given his age and the long layoff

Kovalev has been looking horrendous in training the past few months, hope he doesn’t get brutalized here.

The rabit can outrun the fox on occasion even though the fox is faster overall. Motivation matters as the fox is chasing after food but the rabbit is running for its life.

Maybe he wins, maybe he loses but Kovalev seems to have no fire. What exactly is his motivation coming back?

    Anyone know?
