Guys used to fight everyone at least twice to prove that the first one wasn't a fluke. In the 1900s Sam Langford rematched Joe Jeanette and Sam McVey 13 times. In the twenties Benny Leonard fought Johnny Dundee 8 times. In the thirties, Harry Greb fought Gene Tunney five times and Tommy Loughran six times. In the fifties, Ray Robinson fought Jake LaMotta six times and Gene Fullmer four times. Archie Moore fought Harold Johnson five times. Ezzard Charles fought Jersey Joe Walcott four times. Now, when Manny Pacquiao fights Juan Manuel Marquez four times or Tim Bradley three times it's considered unusual.

I hate that Floyd Mayweather one and done attitude. People assume that because he beat someone on a given night that he automatically beats them every time they meet. However, Oscar De La Hoya would have won a few if they fought a series the same as Pacquiao if they'd fought earlier. Fighting people once at the most opportune time isn't convincing to me. When I see two top fighters, if it's even close then I want to see at least one repeat performance to be sure. History shows that when there are sequels there are likely to be reverses of fortune.

For me, I like a champion that cleans out a division and beats his top contenders twice. Marvin Hagler left no doubt that he was the best middleweight. It took Hearns and Leonard moving up to put any of that in doubt and I think it would have been nice to see sequels to those fights too. They were highly competitive. Carlos Monzon cemented his reputation with multiple rematches of Nino Benvenuti, Emile Griffith, Bennie Briscoe, and Rodrigo Valdez. Muhammad Ali didn't leave anything to doubt. He rematched Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier, Jerry Quarry, George Chuvalo, Floyd Patterson, Ken Norton, etc. That puts an exclamation point on his legacy.

It used to be that you didn't just want to beat the best guys. You wanted to beat them twice. Now, people don't even want to beat all of the best guys. Pathetic. Henry Armstrong beat more top ten ranked fighters than most people these days have fights. They're like, "Oh, he had three to five good fights in his career. What a legend."

nice slips from Cordina a long the ropes. His counters are not effective enough. Cacace just not letting up. Cacace does seem a little arm weary. Cordina landed some nice inside shots near the end of the round . Showed life but not enough to take the round
