According to the rules, the fight should be stopped if a boxer is out on his feet and unable to defend himself. But the referee just protected Fury until the bell rang.

And why did the boxing judge Craig Metcalfe score the fight for Fury, when Usyk clearly won?

Because the rules state a standing 8 count if a fighter is held up by the ropes

That was a clear KO. And Usyk won 8-4 + a KD.

I thought the ref made the right decision here. Look how the fight turned out....

Fury was okay from the later rounds onwards even though he lost most of the final rounds. If not all.

This was for the undisputed title. Let it be decisive.

The rules also say a fighter has to be able to defend himself at all times. Fury was clearly unable to do that. Clear KO, Usyk was robbed of beating him by KO.

Fury was lucky this happened at the end of the round, had it happened in the middle, I have no doubt Usyk would have finished Fury

The rules call for a stoppage if a fighter is out on his feet and unable to defend himself.

How? He didn´t even go down as in his gloves nor knees touched the canvas.
Sure, the ref could have stopped him standing as he was badly hurt but Fury survived and closed to fight well.

In my opinion he's lucky he ref stepped in. Had he gone down, I don't think he'd have got up. Man was feeling all 262 pounds in those moments.

Fury has a well earned reputation for the spectacular rise from the dead, but rules are still rules and the ref intervened too early.

He was done. You don't f**** going in there and save a fighter like that. You either wave thw fight or let the fighter receive the beating.
They robbed Usyk out of a clear KO!!

There were 10 seconds to go, there is a good chance Usyk could have landed the fight ending shot there as he was completely defenseless.
That ruling was the best thing that could have happened to Fury at said moment.

This fight wasn´t sanctioned by the BBBofC, however they have the following ruling:
“down” shall mean one or more of the following:
    (c) when a Boxer is supported on the ropes of the boxing ring and, in the opinion of the Referee, is unable to defend themself;

So by that rule, the referee did precisely what he should have done or was allowed to do.

He wasn't defending himself, by the rules it should have been stopped.

    Glad they didnt
