Tbh, for all intents, purposes and ultimate effectiveness , I think Usyk has lost more of a step than Fury.

As the smaller man, skills notwithstanding, Usyk still has to move more and do a lot more to overcome opponents holding notable size and dimensional advantages.

I believe Fury really didn’t want to fight Usyk, EVER - probably banking on someone else turning the trick of defeating Olek during the protracted period of Fury’s evasion of Olek.

Since that didn’t happen, there was then the “timeout” motive - looking toward Usyk aging and slowing down sufficiently for Fury to even step into the ring with him.

I still believe the cause of the postponement was not 100% kosher - and certainly, Fury entered the ring tonight in far better shape than he would’ve been in March.

Olek, on the other hand, had brought his conditioning to near peak in March, and then had to do it all over again.

Still, Olek had enough left to get the job done - and clearly so.

Usyk embodies the 3 crucial features to an ATG - Skills, Guts and Brains.

All said features came to the fore tonight in varying degrees and as and when required measures but overall, Usyk was maxing himself out and began to fatigue before he might ordinarily would have, had the fight been several years earlier.

    Great fight overall.

He will probably convince himself that he won because he's a delusional narcissist like many top level athletes. I think a rematch would be great judging by how this fight went.

Just listened to Fury's post fight presser. He said that they thought he was up before the twelfth, that's the only reason he didn't knock Usyk out in the last round.

Fury fans, once again, how was that thing about Fury being a great guy who would definitely not look for excuses and would give full credit for beating him? First it was the war in Ukraine that swayed the judges, then it was only a matter of their thinking he was up, that's the only reason why Usyk wasn't stopped in the twelfth.

What. pathetic, despicable, sorry excuse for a decent human being this guy is.

Feels like justice, didn’t expect fury to fight that way though I expected clinching and rough housing, but it probably makes sense he was probably worried about his recent cut getting opened up.
I don’t know if it’s been mentioned but the body work usyk invested in the early rounds paid off in the late rounds, and I think it contributed to how long it took fury to get his head clear after getting bounced around the ring like a pinball.

Arch, FACT, I’ve never looked back since I finally bid farewell to my old school Nokia phone. A phone that was literally held together with a rubber band.

I was phone shamed constantly by my peers - no one talks about that kind of thing and the associated mental trauma but I’m sure if I started a “Me Too” movement, there would be millions immediately climbing aboard.

So, then, Pugs. To add and Arch Stanton Simplify it. A good younger big 'un, beats a smaller older little un..

Just as long as it's an exact level playing field in every possible way. (?)

It wasn't, though, was it?. ;)

The ref is allowed to give a standing 8 count, not 20 seconds though, which is what saved Fury. Obviously biased ref.

    Here's a fun question...

Regardless of whether you thought there was bias for Fury (referee and cards) or not - how do you think any bias goes in a rematch (if it happens)?

For me, the card for Fury was biased and the 114-113 for Usyk was the best I could possibly have scored it (with Fury tinted specs)... So I do see some bias for Fury there.

Will Usyk get straight/unbiased judging in any rematch, or will he have to win just as dominantly to get a narrow SD when it should be a UD?

Wasn't writing my scores down but I think I had Fury 4-2 ahead after 6 rounds, and then I find it hard to give Fury any rounds in the last 6. If you're being extremely generous you could say he nicked one in there somewhere and maybe nicked one of the 2 I gave to Usyk inside the first 6. But even at 6-6 the knockdown means the absolute narrowest the score could have been was 114-113 to Usyk. I actually gave it 8-4 to Usyk plus the knockdown, and I don't think it was a difficult fight to score despite a few close rounds

Usyk was putting the pressure on, forcing the pace, and whilst he gave up some early rounds his investment to the body paid off by the end of the 6th in my opinion. That round 9 will go down in history, Usyk had Fury way more hurt than Wilder ever did - how Fury survived that and recovered I will never know, that's almost supernatural! However, the sight of a smaller man doing that amount of damage to Fury just speaks volumes about Usyk - what a fighter and now one of the all time greats!

Usyk showed heart and guts to get that win, it wasn't all sweet science it was resilience and determination too - a true champion! Credit to Fury as it takes two to tango and he fought brilliantly, the best anyone has done against Usyk. Would love a rematch but wouldn't blame Usyk for retiring on top. Undisputed heavyweight champion and number 1 P4P

If you think Fury won that fight, give yourself an uppercut.

Apart from all the ducking and false bravado pre-fight, Fury was getting backed up for almost the entire fight by a smaller man, was clearly outpunched unless you count his blocked shots, resorted to low blows, hugging, and a headbutt, whilst getting saved by the ref.

There is just no way unless you have mental problems.
