Knew it! Ali would have owned Tyson Fury! Modern day giant argument nonsense

Did Usyk change your mind about how much size matters?

  1. Yes

    63.9%
  2. No

    36.1%

Hard to do that with a longer fighter and Ali never shown he can do that against someone like Fury

That is beyond pathetic. How do you lose to a guy 40lbs lighter, 6 inches shorter than you? A guy he said is a midget and too small to beat him.

That would be like Canelo getting whooped by Inoue without Inoue moving up in weight.

To put into perspective how bad this is, even Logan Paul gave Floyd a hard time just due to his size. Yet here is Fury “best ever” behaving like Logan Paul.

also shows how bad this HW era is as I always thought.

We manufactured this HW as a good era because of 4 guys, 4 guys bloating each others resumes:

    1. fury beat an old klitschko who himself only beat guys due to his height so it was a perfect stylistic matchup. Then beat Wilder, a guy who lost to Parker and literally only had power. Aside from that he fought chisora 3 times? Whooped by Ngannou. Lol

    2. wilder was not great to begin with, just a guy who can barely box but incredible power and explosiveness.

    3. Joshua is actually pretty good but he went life and death with an old klitschko. That’s like if the WW division was empty and Jeff Horn beat Pac and then Horn became the bar for the best at WW, that would be a pretty low bar if the the best in your division barely beat an old man.

    4. Usyk is great but he’s a CW, but I believe Usyk is capable of beating anyone in history. Might have the most trouble with prime Tyson and Lewis. I’m sure Tyson beats him (based on Tyson being too fast and powerful that he’ll land) and Lewis was a much better technician than Fury.

Fury fights a lot like Tommy, they’re similar is skill, one-dimensional. The only difference between them is Fury has 6 inches and 50lbs+ on his opponents, if Tommy was fighting FWs he’d declare himself the best ever too.

I hope you extend this logic to the Golden 70s too.

Ali lost to a one eyed, one armed, one dimensional Frazier.

Frazier lost to a hard punching but slow and no skill Foreman.

Foreman lost to Ali. Foreman got outboxed by Young.

Ali lost to chinny Norton who got blasted out by Foreman.

A trash generation of HW boxers.

Tyson Fury would have never taken this risk if not for the $$$$$, lets not beat around the bush Fury has taken smart moves his whole career with favourable match up and his resume legit stinks.

Fury is not 6'9. He is more like 6 7 and a half.

When guys get over 200 lbs, size difference is not as consequential as say a 120 lb guy fighting a 160 lb guy.

This isn't a bad era. There are more quality southpaws now than in hw history. Guys like Zhang would be legit contenders in any era due to their size and southpaw power.

Guys like Kabayel, Hrgovic etc. are good enough to be top 10 contenders in any era.

This era is much better than Wlad era when Wlad was hugging everyone to death. Usyk, Joshua, Fury, Parker, Kabayel, Hrgovic, Zhang etc. Not the greatest era and not as good as the early 90's but hardly a bad era. Its better than the early 80's, better than late 50's, and better than 2004-2015 era.

Because any man over 200 lbs can ko any other man over 200 lbs.

Joe Louis at 207 lbs ko'd 242 lb Budy Baer. Budy was a legit top 10 contender with good power.

Highly unlikely a bantamweight would have ko'd a top 10 ranked Light middleweight.

Mike Tyson at 215 lbs demolised men 20-30 lbs heavier.

Size matters but there is a point of diminishing returns. A bantamweight is highly unlikely to ko a middleweight. But can a 210 lb heavyweight ko a 250 lb heavyweight? Absolutely.

    Not convincing.

Back in the olden days people said anybody over 175 could take anybody else.

I think Parker is worthy of mention in the top four. He is massively improved from a couple of years ago. He also has a resume that’s as good as anyone. He should fight the Ukrainian next.

Their deep body of work insulates them from that sort of criticism.

between wilder and fury, who have they really beaten? Chisora? Lmao. A retiring Klit? Then a loss to an mma fighter with 0 boxing fights and Parker, a contender at best.

also, neither Ali, foreman, or Frazier would have lost to someone weighing 160lbs, 50lbs lighter than them. That is a joke. Literally if Tommy fury had the same height and weight advantage as Tyson, he would look as good. They are both equally one dimensional.

this is not based on science, just assumptions and something call talent pool.

if there are 1000 x 200lbs men and only one 300lb man, that 300lb man is likely to be terrible therefore the 200lb man KOs him.

just like if a 130lb champ fought a terrible 200lb man. The difference is, the best 130lb fighter is not too far off in skill to the best 200lb man, cos the talent pool at 200lb is nearly as large.

apply the same thing in basketball. Could a. 5’4 Filipino pro baller beat the tallest man in the world? Yes, cos they’re shite at basketball. Could he beat the average 6’6 NBA player? Probably not because they’re much more talented. However if there only existed one 6’6 bball player, he’s likely to be crap as he’s the best of one.

Its not just based on assumptions though.

There is a limit to punching power. Who are regarded as the hardest punchers in heavyweight history? In no order: Foreman, Lewis, Shavers, Wlad, Tua, Wilder, Liston.

All men who weighed between 210-250 lbs.

There is only so much power the human body can generate. Otherwise, the hardest punchers weighing 270, 280 lbs etc would hit significantly hardest punchers weighing 210-230 lbs. But we clearly know this isn't the case.

There is the law of diminishing returns. Once guys get above 200 lbs, and assuming they are well trained and have good punching technique, they pretty much all have power to ko anyone else if they can land the punches.

Its why Holyfield was able to hurt Lewis despite being past his best and Holyfield not being known as a big puncher. Watch at around 21 minutes into this fight. Did Holyfield have the power to ko him? Absolutely. Lewis just had solid defense and ability to recover. And Holyfield at this stage didn't have the endurance to follow up on this. But the bottom line is the power is there. If Lewis simply allowed himself to be hit at will, he could easily have been ko'd by a smaller guy not known for power.
