Yes. In terms of what Usyk's victory over Fury has proven, that is all and, as @McGrain fairly pointed out, that he's a good shout for today's P4P #1.

The constant size debates versus generations ago impresses me as pointless. For whatever reason, the human race is getting bigger.

What did impress me was Usyk carrying the fight to the big guy. Ali never did that. So I think it possible that Usyk did better against Fury than a prime Ali would. Matter of styles.

Also, Usyk is the best fighter in the world at 37 years old. He has only had 22 pro fights, but had 350 amateur fights. That is a lot of rounds and supposed wear and tear. It doesn't show. Usyk is still fighting very well.

The lineal champs of the past also were brilliant.
No one is advocating for Gus Dorazio or Jack Roper beating up Bowe, Fury and Klitschko.

Usyk is great, as great as his peers who held the very title he won last night.

I think yesterdays fight might be enough to make a good case that Holmes could beat Fury up. I just watched the highlights of Holmes-Cooney again and I can totally see that happening. Holmes like Usyk has great stamina and recovery, but also the general handspeed and quickness. It seemed like Usyk was just quicker than Fury and he kept beating him to the punch. So Fury was a bit more gun shy than usual which allowed Usyk to open up more and land combos.

Fury was leading? No surprised at all.

Just Your regular panel of biased judges leaning towards the champion.

Usyk is not a small man, even by heavyweight standards

Why aren't promoters searching out 185 pound, 5-11 dudes with TRex arms today?

I don't think he shattered it, he is just an exceptional fighter. But to say he was not at a bit of a disadvantage would not be wrong. He was, but he is a very smart skilled fighter who knows what he is doing and works hard.

Same height, same reach, Usyk has 8 pounds on him.

Perhaps there is some mystical other measurements I am unaware of

Right, but Fury was kinda seen like the "major" and Usyk like the challenger.

There was a lot of talking pre fight that in order to win Usyk would need a crystal clear advantage over Fury or a stoppage. Otherwise, if the fight was close, judges would lean towards Fury.

Yep; the 9th changed the script.

Edit: I just realized one of the judges actually scored the fight for Fury ... gimme a break.
I am glad the 9th round ruined the fix.

So do you see a 45-50 year old fat Usyk competing with the likes of prime Tommy Morrison and Shannon Briggs on the sheer virtue of strength and size alone? Because that's what Foreman did. Foreman was 226 at 19 years old when he won Olympic gold. Usyk was a middleweight at that age. Anyone can bulk up, especially today, and numbers just don't reflect reality. One look at Foremans shoulders, chest, biceps and legs in comparison to Usyk tells you all you need to know.

Have you esteemed gentlemen and knowledgeable followers of the sport stopped to think that perhaps Fury was the aberration and not Usyk?
