You're replying just to reply they look fine, also you didn't watch all those fights. Norton wasn't good at fighting backwards, but he looked great against Holmes. Young looked amazing. Where's the terrible defense ? Chuvalo is the only one who matches your description. Bunger has no worse laterall movement and positioning than Parker, he even has a better jab

Meanwhile 98% of the 70s heavyweights had literally no defense...

I wouldn't put Zhang on here...he at least puts his gloves up and covers his face well...

You're gonna say there was good defense in any of these videos lol? Don't make me laugh. Usyk would wipe the floor with anyone from back then...If the styles from back then stayed the same and Usyk faced them in their primes...I have no doubt he would win.

100% Usyk would give any heavyweight a tough fight as he proved on Saturday

You keep stating something doesn't mean it's a fact.

All you're doing having is posting a baseless agenda driven opinion.

Zhang the plodder ? who gasses after 6 rounds and landed 0 punches in round 12 vs Parker ?

I don't think hes the best example to use my guy.

I want to see the so called godlike defence from the Heavyweights now ?

Fury the guy who has been dropped 8 times twice in back to back fights and once from an MMA fighter!!!!!

Imagine Ali getting knocked down and arguably losing a decision to someone like Anderson Silva in a boxing match.

That's the joke though, even someone like Zhang has better defense than majority of 70s heavyweights...

Wilder and Whyte are trash, I agree with that...Joyce is just imitating Foreman...Chisora was never some top heavyweight, 13 losses.

Foreman had an ATG jab is one of the hardest hitting Heavyweights of all time not to mention having good boxing IQ.

    Joyce is neither.

Zhang has decent fundamentals but has no gas tank and is a plodder, as I said Parker landed almost 50 percent of his punches against Zhang suggesting his defence is not as good as you're claiming.

Apart from Usyk who is a great talent I don't see any evidence of Heavyweights now having better defence overall.

I'm not saying it's "god-like", but you would admit the majority of top heavyweights now have a serviceable and some even very good defense compared to the majority back then...Defense was not a priority for them...they went head-first towards their opponents and threw sloppy punches...hoping they would land. Fun fights, but really low quality defenses...

I wouldn't no because I've seen alot of sloppy Heavyweight fights now Usyk vs Fury was an exception and was fought at a high level.

I think this thread is designed to be provocative.

If you take the Ali before his draft board troubles, I I'd take Ali. He was a phenomenon of speed and movement unseen before in the HW division.

If you take Ali in the second half of his career, it's much more debatable. I think I'd favor Usyk.

If you take Usyk and Ali both at 37 years of age, I'm definitely taking Usyk.

I'm not saying Joyce is better than Foreman...Just saying Joyce's defense was similar to his...And we see how that worked out against a big puncher like Zhang...70s heavyweights left their heads wipe open...Took crazy amounts of punishment...Today's heavyweights are way better at defending themselves...

I think Foreman had a considerably better defence than Joyce it wasn't great but not as bad Joyce's.

Foreman was sloppy vs Lyle granted but he was coming back from a 2 year lay off and was ring rusty and fought and got lured into a brawl vs Lyle.

But again look at Fury vs Wilder 3 for example that was exciting but a very sloppy performance from both fighters. Fury came in heavy was sloppy and got hit too much and was dropped twice similar to Foreman vs Lyle.

You're right Fury vs Wilder 3 was like that...but that's not the norm in modern day boxing...that was the norm in a majority of the bouts in the old days...
