I don’t see why he should retire if he feels he can and would still like to go on. I think his skill level is so high that he can remain competitive for another 2-3 years. And if not, so what. It’s his career. Since he and his team are the most professional team out there, I trust them to know what they are doing. If his performance results show that much if a dip, they will know it before anyone else and they can decide what to do about it. The fighter who I saw fighting on Saturday doesn’t look like who immediately needs to retire at all.

I'm the biggest Usyk fan you will ever seen on this board. I used AJ as a comparison to how much Usyk was a better fighter than he is compare to today.

Did you see him after the fight? He was barely walking. People wait someone to lose to said he was on decline or shot. I'm just not closing my eyes to the obvious.
He is heavily declined, and anyone that follows him closely and watch his game closely knows this.

Usyk is in physical decline, but his boxing style has gone leaps and bounds, I don't think he would have been able to fight the way he did Vs AJ or Fury in 2016-17.

The big problem is, there is huge different in his attributes in AJ fight, and now. He has slowed down tremendously.
Throwing 300 punches less is huge slowing down. His movement is also not the same.
And that bouncing was just screaming old. Also after the fight he just look like a death man. Crazy exhausted. Nothing alike to how he looked against AJ and in previous years.
    Father time is undefeated.

He was tired, yes. But then again, this was his most challenging fight since Briedis. And I would say that as rock solid his mental state is, the occasion must have been a huge burden too. This night was much more important for him than Fury who is only interested in money. This was the make or break moment of a dream he has been working for since he was a teenager. I think there's a good 2-3 years left in him. He mentioned the other day he wants to fight until he is 40 and I can see him still going strong for another 3 or so years.

    He will retire

But he will honour his rematch with another heavily on the decline old Fury - Should Fury want it

We will know within 2 weeks.

If Fury has the fire still he will take it....if not he will walk away and Usyk will follow happily.

Claiming that he is a shadow of his former self is just ridiculous. Take a breather and relax a bit.
Usyk is 37, there is no denying that. But he is still at the top of his game from a technical standpoint. And he is as motivated as ever.
Fury was to Usyk what Trinidad was to Hopkins. The man can easily continue for years to come.

    Usyk is clearly past prime.
However, as the HW scene is today he could easily stay at the top for 2-3 more years and milk the cow for all what is worth.
Wlad and Fury took advantage of all the available breaks to overstay their expiration date, why not Usyk?

Yeah it was, cause he is old. If that was Usyk from AJ 1, he would have KO Fury in the 10, and finish even stronger.
He was tired and exhausted and barely walking, cause he is old. People tend to ignore this sign. Same thing people(me included) were doing for Klitschko, where the sign was obvious in the Pulev fight, let alone Jennings after it.

His speed is worst, his punch output is almost halved, he doesn't move as good as he was, and i'm talking just from AJ 1 fight. Comparing to this, and he was already in decline in that fight.

You don't get it, do you? Fury had his size to rely on, and this is for life. Reach, Height, huge weight advantages, he can carry a few years more and still do good.
If Usyk decide to carry even 1 year more, he will lose to a lot lesser fighter, i'm almost certain in that.

And you get it completely wrong about Fury. He may talk all the nonsenses in the world, but he absolutely carry about legacy, and he wouldn't have taken this fight otherwise.
Fury tactic was clear. Age Usyk out, until he is old and clearly on decline, he see that in Dubois fight, which Usyk also threw a lot less fight, and decide to take the risk. Than delayed the fight a couple of time, to mess with Usyk training, and force him to have 3 consecutive camps, which Usyk is known to have very hard camps and thats drain tons of you, and Fury though having judges and the referee in his pocket would be enough.
    Boy he was wrong.
But Usyk is on borrowed life in the HW division. Winning 1, 2 or 3 more fights won't add nothing to his legacy and resume. So no need for it.
    He should just retire.

Yeah he is a shadow of himself. And the numbers don't like.
You don't go for good reason from 700+ punches down to 400+ punches + you are not moving a lot less, and clearly being slower for not good reason. He clearly declined from AJ 2 to Dubois, and he declined even more from Dubois to Fury. And will decline even more to his next fight.

And yeah if you followed Usyk like me, and knows how good and fast he was in his WSB days, you would know he is a shadow.
If we compare him to the HW best version of him, which was AJ 1, he is like 70% of that version.

And both lost and somehow derailed their legacy. Usyk can't derail his legacy, as he is way past it, and it's obvious, and he already achieved everything, but still, no need to do that.

Saying "a shadow of his former self" implies more than 70%. That´s what I am getting at.
There is no denying that he has slowed down. It would be ridiculous to expect him not to, as he is 37. And it´s ridiculous to expect him to throw as many punches as a heavyweight.
On average, he threw 10 less puncher per round vs Fury than he did vs Witherspoon.

And for the slowdown in physical activity, he makes up with his skills an experience. He has adapted to the higher weight.
I believe he has way more left in the tank, and I guess the coming years will prove one of us right. A great test of this would be a third fight with Joshua.

Maybe retiring is the sensible thing to do.
But all those sweet saudi petrodollars can go a long way to keep Usyk in the game...

Why should he retire now, when he has the chance of making $50M per fight, as he is currently the biggest name in boxing?

This is professional boxing, although Usyk says "I'm fighting for glory", he moved up to heavyweight because he wants to get huge paychecks.

He should do at least 4 more big fights, make $200M in total at least and then retire.
