Ali and Usyk will always be linked in my mind. Same height, same reach, same birthday, same dragon energy, and both have unique boxing accomplishments. Ali has the most wins against fellow heavyweight greats. Usyk is the undefeated first 4-belt cruiser and heavyweight titlist. Both absolutely maddening for their opponents, Ali for his insane speed, and Usyk for his technically perfect southpaw style.
You're an idiot why respond if you're just going to block. Sorry But Usyk would beat all your legends and make it look easy but keep coping fanboy
Look, I love Usyk and my posting on this site is evidence of that. And Usyk is undoubtedly the greatest heavyweight since Lennox Lewis. But AJ and Fury, whilst both very good fighters are not in the same class as Ali and Foreman. It's one thing to win a war with a slightly over the hill Fury but another thing altogether to beat a prime Muhammad Ali. And I will tell you something for absolute certain. If George Foreman had landed some of the shots that Tyson Fury did, Usyk would have been snoring on the canvas. I love Usyk but no he is not beating a prime Ali.
Not saying he would but he def would give him a tough fight and people mythologize Ali way too much. He was a great fighter and the greatest heavyweight ever but he had flaws as all boxers do and there are plenty of fighters that would give him a tough fight as Norton and Frazier proved and even beat him. I don't think its crazy to say Usyk is one of them
Taking the average of Usyk over his past four fights: Pre exile Ali wins wide by UD, maybe by stoppage. Comeback Ali still wins, but it's now competitive. Post Manila Ali loses.
You sound like a lad with an axe to grind. Regardless of what you think, reckon, emote, feel or opine, Usyk is the greatest boxer of this era, and as of now, the best heavyweight on the planet. And no, no version of Usyk would beat a prime Ali.
Usyk isn't the greatest boxer of this era. He isn't the best heavyweight of this era. Lol Usyk has beat 5 or 6 guys at heavyweight. Could you imagine Holyfield moving up the heavyweight. Beating 2 low level guys like Usyk did. Get a title shot against a boxer who just got knocked out a couple of fights before and then beat a junky whos best win was against a 40 year old fighter? So for example if Holyfield beat Leon Spinks after he beat Ali and beat Corrie Sanders after Hasim Rahman knocked him out. Nobody could call Holyfield the best fighter of his era. Nobody cares about the cruiserweight division. So who cares if Usyk had all 4 belts there. Oh he is the undisputed heavyweight champion? That means nothing in this watered down era. What is more funny is both Fury and Usyk would been stripped of their titles if the fought back in the day. There was no way the would let a guy hold the title for over a year without defending it. Usyk is a average fighter who is lucky to be in such a horrible era for boxing. I coudn't imagine Usyk even beating somebody like Mitch "Blood" Green. Usyk barely beat a faded Derek Chisora for crying out loud. Him beating Tyson Fury just shows you how bad Fury is, not how great Usyk is.
Give up the nostalgia goggles oldhead, and jabs aren't always just used for POWER YAY LAND PUNCH anymore, there are slapping, suppressive, up-jabs, etc thrown to disrupt rhythms
Lol well that isn’t a fair comparison in the slightest. Fury is a significantly better boxer than Valuev, and Usyk beating him is far more impressive than Haye beating stiff Valuev
Where did I say Ernie Terrell is not taller. He had more height/reach but he weighed near enough the same as Ali. And that’s not the point here, Fury is a significantly better boxer than Ernie Terrell. Size AND skill are extremely difficult to overcome. Did you even see Ernie Terrell Vs Ali? Ernie was plodding forwards with his elbows to his chest doing **** all
of course size matters - but if you’re beating up some stiff idiot whose big, it’s going to be easier for the more skilled smaller guy. Ernie Terrell was not the same size as Fury, only near by height. He was also stiff idiot. Valuev was just huge, he wasn’t any good. Let me reframe what I meant (and what I’ve already said in this thread, and what I believe you know is meant) Ali never beat a skilled opponent with significant size advantage. Ali beating an inch taller Bugner and beating 6ft6 same weight robot Ernie Terrell, is not the same as Usyk beating a guy with 5-6inch height and reach advantage and 40lbs weight advantage. And beating a guy who is slick, has fast hands, and knows how to feint and move. Ali had the benefit of being able to tee off at static opponents in Terrel and Bugner.
