How do we get a HW division where the best fight the best?

Looking back at this ‘era’ of HWs, it’s been interesting at times, but it’s also been a period of ducking and frustration.

We’ve been denied AJ V Fury in their prime, Wilder V AJ, Ruiz V Wilder, Fury V anyone seriously contending (aside from Usyk)

Respect to Usyk he’s faced all comers.

Not even saying that any of the above listed are the best of this era, the trouble is they don’t even fight each other to actually find out. Wilder no doubt gets exposed (and has been exposed). But there was a period a couple of years ago where we could’ve had some really entertaining fights if those at the top actually fought each other.

Imagine almost any other sport where the best in the sport never play each other.
    The whole thing is ludicrous.

Who/what do you think is to blame, and more importantly, how can it be fixed going forward?

The only people that lose out in this situation is the fans, meanwhile being rinsed for the PPV money.

The major issue is too many.

    Too many orgs.
    Too many belts.
Too many fights going PPV that shouldn't be.

What can we do as fans? Not a lot.

It's pretty rare for the top fighters of any era to fight each other while both in their absolute prime. The Saudis have been making great heavyweight fights tbh, I've never been more optimistic that massive fights can get made. I'm guessing the money they are offering is too good to turn down.

    To expand a bit...

Too many orgs/belts means there isn't just one, tight, bottleneck where fighters have to fight for position and ranking...
Which means that right now you wind up with fighters too highly ranked and in mandatory defence positions who absolutely shouldn't be, having not done very much, and nobody complains that much about it.

The problem with too many PPV's is that it takes away the motivation to actually get serious ranks and for fights to matter in order to get paid the big money - there's no incentive.

The problem as fans is we can't just disband orgs - the only thing we even could do is stop buying PPV's that don't matter... But casuals are the bulk of the buys and you're not stopping them buying guys who claim to be huge because they can sell PPV numbers but aren't interested in taking the serious fights.

Casuals will still pay the bills, so nothing will change.

There needs to be a sexual incentive alongside the monetary incentive

but i'm saving my valuable money and time. if boxing refuses to change, let it die. it is almost there in the states already. you'd never even know an undisputed hw champ was crowned over the weekend, no buzz or talk whatsoever.

This is true, but then are you really a boxing fan at that point. I agree that many fights we should see either happen far too late or not at all. But at the same time fans are so entitled to think these guys are their personal fantasy play things and don't want guys doing what's best for their short careers after dedicating huge chunks of their lives getting punched in the face lol. I'd love to see something that works for both the fighters and the fans.

The problem was Tyson Fury. He never wanted to fight Usyk or Joshua. When one of the champs refuses to fight the best in the division (to the point of retiring in his prime) then what can you do? You can't literally make Fury get into the ring.

Well there is one common link between every single fight you listed:
    the WBC
People don't like the idea of getting rid of the green belt though, so they allow the WBC carte blanche

Not mad at that at all. For me, personally I've watched/supported the sport for too long to just drop it because I'd rather see a few different matchups than what's been provided.
