Shadow once again after being exposed as he knows nothing for Boxing, trying to take credits, where credits it's due.

That was the best Fury that has ever stepped into the ring, and this ain't my words, this is his own team words, prior to the fight.
His speed was there, his stamina was there, his punch resistance was there, his power was there, his reflexes was there, and he was in the best shape of his life.
Million times better shape than Wilder 2. But this ain't Wilder against him.

Usyk is 19 months older. And his whole style is based on attributes that decline with age first, aka speed, agility, reflexes, reaction time, cardio/energy, footwork, etc.

Usyk is also not a natural HW, and a really small one for today HW standard. He is million time past his best years, by at least 4-5 years.
His punch output and exhausting is showing this, as he was nowhere near as fresh as in his previous fight, and specifically AJ fights, as this was Usyk best fights at HW.

Going down from 700 to 400 punches thrown is an indicator of being heavily declined.

In Fury case he thrown 574 punches, in a extremely high pace fight, where he was pressured every second of every round, speaks he was in his absolutely best.

For example against Klitschko, Fury threw just 371 punches in a slow paced fight.
Against Wilder, Fury threw 327 punches.
Against Wilder 2 Fury throws 267 punches in 7 rounds, where Wilder was like a statues.
In Wilder 3, again not much of high pace fight, Fury threw 385 punches over 11 rounds.

Yeah this is the best Fury we have ever seen.

I'm sure Usyk was sparring midgets and dwarves in preparation...... not

He was well prepared to fight against a tall opponent, but even then, with such a reach disadvantage he is going to miss some punches.

A Rugby League fan who knows about boxing? Nice.

Yes, some of the Fury fans are being dishonest.

I know you are a Fury fan, and given one of the good ones to be fair, always respectful and so on, but how on the earth you can give Fury Round 1, which is the most clear round in the fight, beside Round 8,9, 10, and 11(you still give it to Fury, which s a clear Usyk round)?

So when exactly we start scoring rounds for someone showboating and eating power punches to the body all night, and then finish the round with hard left to the head ?
I really wanna see your reasoning of giving Fury Round 1 and, in that number Round 11 as well. Wont argue about any other round, but just this 2.

And just to add a bit of stats for Round 1 and 11:

There is a decent argument to be made that if Usyk was 3 years younger that Fury gets shutout on the cards. Usyk still has all of his skill, will power and chin, but the athleticism and gas tank has trended downward sharply recently. Those 3 rounds that Fury won can be just as well attributed to Usyk taking a breather and his foot off the gas in preparation for the last half of the fight, rather than adjustments in strategy by Fury. The Usyk from the Gassiev fight would have been energizer bunny for the full 12 rounds. A younger Usyk simply wouldn't have even given Fury the opportunity to get in range and position to land those shots in the first place. As bad as this was for Fury, against a younger Usyk it would have been much worse for him.

@CST80 did you pick correct for full card?

As an Irish man I'm sorry to say this is the first I've known of Anthony Cacace. Do you have a thread on him? I'd like to watch his loss as I seen you mentioned it was a bit of a robbery?

I'm thinking of using your picks to do some spread sports betting. Outside of the big fights and big names I don't know enough to pick fighters like Anthony Cacace

No... not quite, I got two wrong. I picked Opetaia, Itauma, Lapin, Nyika, Chamberlain, Cacace, Kabayel and Usyk. I picked wrong with Ahmadi and Kovalev. I'd seen Ahmadi several times and thought he had the style to bother Lowe, who's been on a bit of a downward trajectory lately. I was somewhat right, Ahmadi rocked him pretty badly twice, and was hanging tough in almost every round, but it was too much too soon for the kid, who's in his early 20's. But he showed a good account of himself. The other, I should have gone with my gut instead of my heart. I said on the thread about the match that I had a bad feeling Kovalev was going to lose, but he's one of my favorite boxers, so I stupidly went with my heart. Although had you come to me for advice, I'd have definitely steered you away from picking Kovalev.

    Still damn impressive.

Did we get confirmation from @IntentionalButt that this is the longest RBR?

Opetaia looked strangely lethargic although Breidis is a tough veteran. Ope looked very reluctant to exchange. We sat next to Ope's team including his father at the airport and they were all a bit depressed. His trainer was talking about needing to look for another job.

Good pick with Cacace...he destroyed Cordina. I could see most people picking Cordina pre fight.
Kovalev has been used goods for a long time. He can't beat anyone other than drunk Russians at this time in his career.

Muchas gracias!:beer-toast1: But I beat myself up regardless, especially when I allowed my heart to lead me astray, it's my only weakness when it comes to predicting fights. Because it's not like I'm not more than cognizant that I'm potentially walking into a minefield.

I don't think Opetaia was lethargic, I think he just remembered what happened the last time out, which almost cost him his career. I mean, his face looked like something out of a David Cronenberg psychosomatic tumors body horror film. So obviously as much as everyone was expecting him to blast Briedis out of there this time, in the forefront of his mind in the entire lead up and the day of was, this guy broke my face. **** this and **** the fans, they've never shared the ring with Briedis or know what he can do to you!!!! I'm not taking any undue risks whatsoever! By doing that, he was far more successful than the first time, where Briedis turned it on in the 7th. It took Mairis until the 9th and 10th to start pouring it on him. But like the first time, his cardio betrayed him. That's what usually happens when the preparation you have is 2 opponents in a row that you blitz in under 2 rounds.

Still not sure why people had such confidence in Cordina. He went life and death against Rakhimov, beat him due to the knockdown, otherwise it would've probably been a draw or a SD loss. Then didn't beat Edward Vazquez in most people's estimation, not only mine. At best that was a draw. Cordina is a pretty straight forward up and down fighter, with nothing special to set him apart from the rest. Cacace is much better than Vazquez, and far more skilled than Rakhimov, with a better chin, longer reach, underrated power, grittier with genuine dog in him. His wins over Bowen who was an unstoppable battering ram and then Magnesi who was a beast as well, are far more impressive wins than Cordina's last few, even though they didn't have any of the hype or fanfare. I mean, Bowen's signature win before Cacace him, was stopping Maxi Hughes. Quite frankly, it's a pity Bowen took the loss so badly, it demoralized him and basically ended his career. Hopefully he'll reassess that loss after what Cacace did over the weekend, and make a comeback. He's only 32.

As far as Kovalev goes, I was being overly optimistic, because of the ease with which he beat another fairly large Cruiserweight in Tervel Pulev, who's undefeated, in his last outing. For some reason, people have amnesia when it comes to that match, even the commentators, one of which said this was Kovalev's first fight back since Canelo. Also, Safar is crap, even in beating Kovalev he looked pretty subpar. So had Kovalev come back 6 months after the Pulev fight instead of 2 years, he probably would have still had more than enough to beat this guy.
