Controversial opinion but i'd rather see Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua

I thought Usyk clearly beat Fury and whilst it was an exciting fight and a rematch isn't a bad option. I'd rather see Fury vs Joshua at Wembley to decide who really is the best British Heavyweight of this era.

Looking at Joshua and Fury's resumes they're quite similar.

Fury and Joshua both beat Wladimir.

Fury and Joshua both beat Whyte.

Fury beat Wilder twice but Joshua beat Parker who recently dominated Wilder.

Both Fury and Joshua lost to Usyk.

Fury struggled immensely vs Ngannou, Wallin, Joshua destroyed both of them.

Outside of that Fury hasn't really got many other notable wins whilst Joshua has Povetkin, Ruiz, Takam, etc.

I'm not a fan of either fighter but i think this fight needs to happen to decide the best British Heavyweight of this era and who is the clear number 2. I'd rather see someone like Parker get his shot at Usyk he deserves a big fight after his recent run of form and it's a different opponent for Usyk atleast.

 

Hell yeah sign me up for that. Honestly I'd be more interested in this one too.

As you said, Usyk won without controversy. There's rarely any need for an immediate rematch in those circumstances. Only if there's no other fights to be made and that's not the case here. Joshua-Fury would be a great fight and Usyk has a several other contenders to face that are decent.

 

It's a fight I'd like to see, but I'd rather see Fury rematch Usyk first as the first fight was competitive and entertaining.

 

Both men, Fury especially, have a diminishing shelf life, so I'd rather see this than Fury rematching Usyk (which will just end up the same or worse for Fury). There's still an unspoken belief that Fury is number two behind Usyk and I don't see that being the case, so let's see them fight to settle it. Either Fury outboxes Joshua like his fans all say he will or Joshua KTFO Fury and we get to see the big dosser counted out. Satisfying result either way.

AJ is a bum dosser gifted everything his whole career and he missed the boat by getting chinned by Ruiz Jr and then Eddie Hearn's arrogance thinking Usyk would be a cruiserweight knock over job.

He doesn't deserve a shot at Fury or Usyk but he will get a shot at Hurgovic for a cruddy belt that will get stripped off Usyk. ANOTHER free belt for a bum ass wannabe champion...

It's pure ARROGANCE that people pre-emptivly demand ANYTHING from either Fury or Usyk when they're both going to retire after their rematch where they will give their final dance.

AJ has the fortunate fruit of a little more physical life in him...he can use that to forge something but it will never be what Fury & Usyk forged.

What is the bodybuilders marquee performance? What is his creme de la creme? Joe Parker?

 

Not a fan of Joshua, who is a mediocre overrated journeyman. But I would like to see Fury vs Joshua made. It should be an interesting match.

Since Fury already lost to Usyk maybe his fears of losing are over and now he can stop ducking Joshua.

 

Let the second tier sort it out.

Usyk is clearly number one - and has been for some time. I'm not overly interested in seeing a rematch. I'd much rather watch Fury v Joshua to decide the silver medal.

 

When AJ got a chance for a rematch against Usyk, it would only be fair if Fury got a chance for a rematch as well.
Immediately after that, the fight Fury Vs. AJ, regardless of the outcome of the Fury Vs. Usyk 2.

I think everyone wants to see AJ v Fury and now Usyk has beaten them both it's more likely to happen.

AJ v Fury, Parker v Dubois.

Let Usyk fight Kabayel and Hrgovic and get those mandos out of the way.

 

AJ vs Fury script is already set. Fury outboxes him until AJ lands a massive overhand right that puts him down. I’d be more interested to see what adjustments Usyk and Fury make in their rematch.

Fury V Usyk was a great fight. Contrary to what people say it was close enough to be compelling start to finish and we got a clear winner at the end.

I imagine the rematch would be equally entertaining but the outcome is probably the same. Joshua V Fury feels like a less predictable fight.

How is that any different from Fury coming back and choosing to chase a belt in the hands of a borderline fraud?

He could've made a beeline for Joshua with 3/4 belts... He didn't.

He could've gone after the undisputed against Usyk as soon as they were both free... He didn't.


You can point at Joshua having lost to Usyk and ask what right he has to be a beltholder... That's fine.

But, IMHO, it's bloody hypocritical to chastise Joshua for chasing a belt in the hands of an underproven fighter with an overblown reputation when that's EXACTLY what Fury came back to do and exactly how he got his hands on his only belt post-Wlad.


I'd rather see Fury against Joshua - there's more to prove there, and a better chance of winning... But I don't expect to see it for one moment.

 

The more I read this thread the more I'm excited about Fury v Joshua.
Last weekend's fight was epic. A rematch would be great too.
Can't explain why, but Fury v AJ just appeals to me
