I think Liston is an absolutely hideous matchup for Marciano. Marciano more than likely gets chopped to pieces if we're going prime for prime. Maybe Marciano can land something big, but I'm not picking that to happen.

That said, Liston was incarcerated when Marciano retired and was in the nascent stages of his pro career before then. Liston's presence on the scene, or lack thereof, probably doesn't factor into Rocky's retirement.

The very definition of sending a boy to do a man's errand.

Liston KO's him quicker than he did Patterson. Target practice.

I’d favor Liston. Rocky might surprise people and last longer than many would predict.

This is a flat out execution, Liston by KO round 1. and if Rocky makes it out of the first he gets flat lined inside the first minute or round 2.
Liston is among the heavyweights who are nightmares for Marciano, Foreman and Tyson are the other two., I'm not certain David Tua wouldn't splatter him all over the ring.

It does, 5kg size difference isn't much in professional fighting.
Douglas 30 pounds heavier than Holyfield and Furry was almost 50 pounds heavier than Usyk too.

I bet on Fury because he was almost 50 pounds heavier and bigger man but what happened is the different story.

When Liston fought Ali, Muhammad Ali was the underdog and 99% of people here would then pick Liston to beat Ali, but we all know what the outcome was.
If Ali didn't fight Liston, how many people would pick him to beat Sonny?

He wasn’t on anyone’s radar at all until like 1958. By the time Marciano retired Liston was a 12-1 rookie and had just gotten his jaw shattered by Marty Marshall less than a year prior. Sure he avenged those losses later but there’s no reason to think he was on Rocky’s radar in 1955, let alone on any other significant contender’s radar.

Please post here where I said Liston was spineless? He obviously had mental issues and broke under pressure as Ali proved twice. Now u don’t be ridiculous find that post and get back to me when u make sense

Idk if ur like, unintelligent or something. But usually “weak mentally” and spineless mean the same thing, obviously liston has a spine bone??? Also liston didnt “break under pressure” in the first fight he was SERIOUSLY injured before the fight started and in the second his family was at gun point. So.

Not the same thing. No boxer is spineless. U step in that ring ur a warrior. But some men fold when faced w the fact that they share the ring w an equal. It’s just the facts. Liston folded to Ali twice. His family was also not held at gun point. Every fighter gets death threats before fights from all walks of life. His family being threatened is a literal nothing burger.

Liston didn't fold when Marshall broke his jaw,he didn't fold when Williams broke his nose.

Every fighter gets death threats? Name 5 who did?
