Ingo vs Floyd Patterson 1, June 26 1959, What do you think of their first fight? What would have happened of Ingo had won the 1960 rematch?

For Cus it must have been a confirmation of his worst fears...

Poor Cus probably had Vietnam flashbacks while considering if it was Liston instead of Ingo the one fighting biscuit chin...

I saw the first fight between Ingo vs Patterson on You Tube yesterday, amazingly Floyd got up fighting after one of the knockdowns but poor Cus watching that fight, imagine if Ingo had won both fights, then onto Sonny Liston.

Ruby Goldstein, he let it go for too long, 7 knockdowns.

Goldstein could have stopped it after the first lnockdown, so out of it was Floyd. Instead, Ingo had 2 free swings at him, the second to the back of his head, driving him to the canvas, without a cheep from Ruby!
The future ref of the Griffith - Paret fight, less than 3 years later, still let the fight go on for 5 more knockdowns!
Despite this, and suffering 2 bludgeoning defeats to Liston, fights he sought, he continued for another 13 years at top level.
    There’s resilience for you!

Way too long. What did the ref expect Floyd was gonna do, turn it around??

That was the second fight in a row where Ingo had to administer excessive violence, courtesy of Andrew Smyth.
Eddie Machen had to endure 3 concussive knockdowns, the last being frightening, being hit while down, before Smyth woke up and stopped it!
