Could is the keyword here. Why didn't he? He had plenty of opportunity to squeeze in 'terrible' opponents like that in between his multiple bum bashings of Wilder and Chisora. But it was unknowns like Tom Schwartz and Otto Wallin instead (Wallin was a complete unknown when Fury plucked him out).

Regardless of the exact merits of Wilders cv he hasn't done enough to be considered an outstanding opponent so it seems silly to accuse AJ of ducking him.

Agit Kabyel has wins over Chisora, Sanchez, and Makhmudov but nobody is demanding Usyk, Fury, AJ face him or claiming they are all ducking him.

Don't get me wrong Helenius was past it. Just Povetkin was a dead man walking who shouldn't have even been in the ring

Even without the knockdown I had it 7/5 Whyte

And how is Fury's wins over wilder impressive? Great fights to watch, but he went life and death with Wilder three times.

By that standard AJs win over Klitschko is way more impressive than Fury's.

Fair point about beating someone 3x but Fury knocked out Whyte who was top 5 at the time and the fight was never competitive

Ortiz was ducked and considered the boogey man by many

Knocking out Braezele in round 1 > going life and death vs Chisora

Also if Chisora is better than Braezele that's another argument for Fury because Fury beat Chisora when Chisora was in prime and undefeated

I never said Joshua ducked him and yes Kabayel is putting together a nice resume

The 2nd fight was not life and death. Fury dominated the fight from beginning to end

Fury went life and death in Fury-Wilder II?

Maybe I'm misremembering. I recall it being a dominant, era defining win against a champion who was a slight favorite in his own back yard. Maybe you can clear that one up for me.

Fury doesn't get credit for the action packed war with a 35 year old Wilder because he got knocked down. Joshua gets credit for showing heart and getting knocked down against a 41 year old.

And made Wilder quit. I know.

Great performance, even if the opponent wasn't all he was cracked up to be.

If it was Wallin who received that bloody gash that Fury got over his eye, the fight would have been stopped. That eye cut was near Vitali levels of mangled, he's privileged the ref let him continue.
