Folks cry over Floyd's timing but give free passes to the guys who came before, did the same thing, and have a lot more absurdities in their records than simply retiring on mcnuggets.

    50-1 vs 2-2 wonder who'll win.

Fought for undisputed then fought 0-3

60-1 Champion vs 3-5 not even world ranked.

64-1 vs 1-3 but at least he fought a few world contenders no one praises today between the 1-3 and 3-5 fighters.

70-1 vs 7-2 but him beat SRL doe.

I could go on. These jabronis already know the score. They cry about things like but him fought Pac late. While he was busy fighting champions instead of taxi drivers.

So what? Duran had nearly 120 fights across 5 decades, they can't all be top level champions. What about when Mayweather fought an 0-0 debutant with no amateur background and put it on PPV? Everybody pads their records, it's just how boxing works. Duran was allowed soft touches in his native Panama to entertain his rabid and adoring countrymen after fighting ranked contenders and champions one after the other in America. Duran didn't duck anybody, he fought the best and proved his caliber as a fighter. If Floyd fought to Duran's schedule he sure as hell wouldn't have stayed undefeated and his fragile hands would have turned to dust. Floyd was a shrewd and conniving businessman, Duran was one of the best fighters to have ever laced up and a true gladiator.

Following his sensational mauling of the talented JMW champion Davey Moore, Duran said, "I'm the old lion. I don't fight for the money. I want to show myself that I'm a champion. I do this in search of glory." I think that sums up why Duran will always be greater than Floyd pretty well.

At 135 pounds Duran has the edge from 140 pounds and above the pendulum swings to Floyd. Wilfredo Benitez outpointing Duran is instructive on this matchup.

Duran would give Mayweather absolute hell. Floyd knows himself he'd get smashed up.

Duran is a terrible bad matchup for Floyd. Floyd lost to Castillo and you could say lost to Maidana in the first fight, and neither of them are nowhere near Durans level.

Size wise i think he & Floyd are similar give or take a few pies.. yet i can't imagine FMJ pushing Hagler close over 15 , taking Barkley's belt & beating a prime SRL..

Although I think pbf would've frustrated and boxed circles around duran. Duran is the greater fighter top 10 ATG pbf isn't a top 10 ATG.

Your argument is already addressed in the statement you chose to quote. You didn't progress the conversation, all you did was fill the role with a name.

So, TF do you expect me to do with this? Tell you nu-huh? I feel differently? Sounds like you're butthurt over Floyd's success? Other obvious and tired juxtapositions you read every time Mayweather is brought up?

If you want to detract from my statement you do not crucify Floyd for McNugget or Berto while forgiving Duran for similar acts. Consistency makes for strong arguments.

I'll show you; only one of these men seeing failure exists strictly in the world of fantasy alongside fairies and gnomes and other forms of childish whimsy.

I get confused on what we are calling the criteria for great.

If it's what guys did for the sport, the number fights they had, an exciting style, that's one way of looking at it.

If it's how two guys would have done in a head to head match up, that's something different.

Duran, as the smaller guy, beat prime Sugar Ray Leonard.

Floyd doesn’t have a win anywhere close to that impressive

I might be in the wrong but I dont take peds against an athletes career. I would be willing to bet that the top 10 in every weight division in every sport are on something. They’ve got way too much money on the line for managers, promoters, coaches, etc not to get them on everything possible. Victor conte or whatever his name is and JMM condition coach are on record saying they’ve made multiple undetectable products.
