I'm a casual-ish boxing fan, I watch the big fights, the title fights. I'll watch all the wilder/AJ/Canelo/Crawford/Tank etc fights. Compared to other sports where we watch teams or players play regularly, every week, sometimes several times in a week. I appreciate it's impossible to have regular boxing fights with the top guys because of recovery and injuries. The 12 rounds are very exciting to watch, then after that there's very little. I will sometimes go back and watch important fights/moments like knockouts. So just wondering, what do hardcore boxing fans watch between fights? Amateur/local fights or other combat sports?
You're saying this at the completely wrong time!!! It's been stacked this year!! Every week there's been regular big fights and stacked cards. I've not even had time for other sports recently because It's the big 5 v 5 card this week, it was Taylor-Catterall last week, Fury-Usyk with a stacked undercard the week before, Lomachenko-Kambosos the week before that, & Alvarez-Munguia, Haney-Garcia, Inoue--Nery etc
The difference between a casual boxing fan and a hardcore boxing fan is hardcore fans will watch every fight they can. Some of the best fights I've watched were at a lower level, like Brodie vs Swain which any fans that watched that will remember well as it was an unforgettable fight. I'll also try and catch the big amateur tournaments when I can.
Watch the low level stuff (domestic scenes, contenders, prospects) and watch the older stuff. That's kinda it really for viewing. Also just talk about it online. Or train I guess. The world's your oyster really, you just gotta expand your horizons.
