Blimey. What else were you doing when you typed this? I'm assuming you typed it with your left hand.

Notwithstanding that, your hatred for Tyson skewers your view of what actually went down. Berbick stood up to him, Tucker, Holmes, Ruddock, Thomas. Three out of them became highlight reel kayoes.

    Best chance I’ll choose Ali.
Then Holyfield. Lewis I think gets caught by peak Tyson. Holmes has the tools but he’s a sucker for a right hand and Prime Mike was a deadly finisher. If Joe Louis can weather an early attack he’ll put a beating on Tyson possibly Frazier too, survival for both though is probably a big IF. Foreman may walk thru him or find himself staring up at the ring lights, it feels 50/50. Honestly peak Tyson in my opinion is an absolute nightmare and potentially could beat any Heavyweight that ever lived.

Though Mike is a terrific fighter and top ten ATG, there are more than a few that beat him. Here are some:

Joe Louis: Louis fought a bit like Mike, in that he was capable of very powerful combinations that had plenty of snap to them. Joe was just too great for Mike, who might score a kd early. Louis in 7

Sonny Liston: Sonny had an ability that few punchers have: he could adjust strategies when need be. Both men would come out with frightening bombs, Liston getting the worse of it due to Mike's faster hands. After a couple of very bad rounds for Sonny he starts pushing Mike off and popping him with the jab when he tries to get back in range. This starts daunting the hell out of Mike after a few rounds and he retreats into his far-less-effective cautious/one-punch mode. Sonny stays far busier than Mike from this point on, and while Mike gets some terrific shots in hes just not following up. Mike starts a very entertaining firefight between the two in round 5, but as he launches a gazelle punch he walks into an insane long right hand and crumbles for 10.

Muhammad Ali: The greatest in the 60s would have avoided the initial Iron Mike rush by clinching and lead rights. Soon he'd have the jab going, but it's the continued use of lead rights that really messes up Mike. A left uppercut flash floors Mike in the 4th and he gets progressively more careful, looking for the one shot. By the 10th his face is terribly swollen up, he can't see out of his left eye. Ali starts landing rights at will and the ref stops it.

Joe Frazier: the one that used Hate to fuel his FOTC victory. Mike floors him twice in the early rounds and is completely astonished and thrown off when Joe gets up each time ready to go, tapping his gloves together. Tyson just can't get punching room, Joe is crowding the hell out of him constantly. Joe doesn't score a whole lot in those aforementioned early rounds, but he is a genius in keeping Mike off balance and frustrating his attempts at range-finding. Mike is getting punched all over the ring when the ref stops it in the 9th.

George Foreman: Mike isn't so great at fighting backward, and Foreman would bully, shove, reposition, and jab him into places where he's unable to mount a consistent offense. The first round sees Mike landing a phenomenal left right combination that more than registers on George, but ends with Mike getting extremely frustrated and woefully staggered by a terrifying right uppercut. It's obvious the bell saved him. He comes out for the 2nd, his legs obviously gone, eats a walk-away left hook (think Cooney, but this is young George) and is out.

Larry Holmes: Holmes is at first pretty overwhelmed by the charging Tyson, and reacts pretty much the way he reacted when Leon Spinks rushed him early in their fight. He usually needed some time and space to figure out fighters, and Mike seems bent on avoiding that. Mike has no patience with anything but trying to keep Larry in range, but after a very scary first few rounds the latter pulls out his bag of boxing tricks and it's a much bigger bag than Mike's. Holmes throws the jab, clinches, repeats until he starts finding range with the right. After the fifth Mike is starting to fade, and he's knocked down and then victim of countless rights in the corner, it's over in 8.

Buster Douglas in my opinion already did I’d also pick Larry Holmes to do a similar job on Kid Dynamite.

Hmmmmm. I'll leave Buster outta this because Mike was prime when he lost (regardless of out the ring shenanigans). Who wins for certain IMO:

    Lewis
    Holmes
    Foreman
    Ali
    Liston

Then a good chance at beating him:

    Frazier
    C Williams
    Louis

I go back and forth between if Tyson beats Wlad and Vitali. I think at his absolute peak he beats both at theirs, but I think Vitali would win 2-3.

I do not think the Evander that beat Douglas would've beaten Tyson. Tyson 87 - conviction (yea even who lost to Buster) I will die on the hill that he would've stopped Evander.

And someone else I think would've been a hard fight for Mike stylistically............Tim Witherspoon. I'd favor Tyson though

He copy and pastes the same comments over and over.

He must of said the exact same comment over 100 times even when posters consistently prove him wrong with the same examples you've given.

Another comment he likes to inaccurately say alot is that Shavers never had a stoppage in the 2nd half of a fight even though I must of told him on 4 different occasions that Shavers stopped Roy Tiger Williams in the 10th round.

I honestly believe he doesn't ever read any replies to his comments hence he never learns anything and just likes keep spouting the same inaccurate comments over and over.

I would also add Trevor Berbick. In the first round Mike has the advantage, Trevor hits hard, fouls, clinches, gives rabbit punches but he cannot stop Mike who is still gaining momentum, in the second round he throws Trevor down several times. However, the referee gives Trevor a chance and Tyson, just like with Douglas, cannot finish the job. In round 3, Berbick finds his rhythm and starts pushing Mike to the defense. Tyson is becoming more and more discouraged and frustrated, and Berbick hits more and more often. In the 4th round, tired Mike is no longer able to defend himself against Berbick's attacks and after a long series of blows, he loses exactly the same as with Danny Williams.

Great post. I just have a tough time envisioning Joe Louis being able to withstand Mike Tysons early onslaught of power and speed

The problem I have with this, and no offense meant...Berbick didn't do great against punchers. He did quite well against boxers.

I don't think Trevor would have lasted any longer against Mike at his peak. The guy got blown out by Mercado in 1.
