Beterbiev v Calzaghe

I was watching You Tube earlier and started watching some clips of both men and thought 'that would be some fight'.

So, who do we think prevails?

I honestly don't know which way to call it, though my heart says Calzaghe.

Is Beterbiev truly that guy, the real deal, has be beaten enough world class opponents?

Or, has he proven conclusively he belongs among the legends at LHW?

How, do we think both men would fare against some of the bruisers who fought in that division through the previous decades?

I'm fascinated to hear everyone's opinions and reasoning for who takes the win.

 

I would pick Beterbiev by stoppage. I don’t see Joe keeping the larger Beterbiev off him

 

Beterbiev is excellent, but Zags on points here, IMHO.

 

Calzaghe has the power to make Artur look silly, but Beterbiev is a smart fighter and would adapt pretty quickly. When he finds out about zagger's caffeine reflexes he'll go to the body. When Joe tries the footwork Beterbiev will step on his feet. One of these guys hits like a triphammer and the other does not. Calzaghe did better when the other guy loaded up on his punches. Beterbiev throws short compact hooks and does not overbalance himself. I won't write off a guy as fast and talented as Calzaghe but the range zaggers fights at is also Beterbiev's favourite range. Bivol has a much better chance imho because he likes to keep the opponent as far from him as possible.

 

Yeah, Artur definitely looks like the bigger guy, and he's a bruiser.

 

I still think we've got to see Bertebiev under some sustained pressure to know just how good he really is, as he's been able to just shrug off most of the opponents he's faced and break them down fairly comprehensively.

 

Calzaghe wins this for me. Beterbiev is a beast but watch when someone throws some shots and shows a bit of movement he has to reset his setup. He would have to do that all night against Joe. Calzaghe could be in trouble at some point but I think he wins on points. Working hard all night hitting beterbiev with 70 or 80 punches per round. To beat calzaghe I think you have to wither counterpunch him with something big or be an even better boxer all round and artur is neither.

Not sure if Joe even takes this fight. The dude openly talked about how huge a risk it was to fight RJJ in his prime.

 

Beterbiev is the real deal. Calzaghe was smoke and mirrors and not half the fighter he's made out to be by some.

 

Are you sure that's not Beterbiev resetting his opponent?

Watch the Callum Smith fight. He reset Smith all night long and was in and out of range effortlessly. Smith's jab and left hook were pretty redundant after a few rounds.

 

Joe, would certainly keep him on his toes, constantly having to readjust.

I don't envision Calzaghe ever getting stopped tbh, I think Beterbiev pounds out a points victory.

 

Beterbiev wrecks Calzaghe at Light Heavyweight hes too big too strong Calzaghe was decked by ancient versions of Hopkins, Jones, at Light Heavyweight imagine if that was Beterbiev hitting him.
