Nahh, during that era Matchroom and Queensberry were on different levels. Pre-DAZN, MR probably had their strongest stable (at least domestically), before a few moved over to Boxxer, plus the likes of Alvarez and Andrade internationally. QB was basically just Joyce, Dubois and Yarde back then with no depth in quality. They’ve got a much deeper stable now and the two companies are on a much more level playing field. At least in terms of quality fighters, if not budgets!
i said this before, if they're gonna do this 5-5 stuff they should keep it to british fighters only, then it would mean more, like i doubt Eddie really cares if Wilder wins or loses and the same for Hirgovic as he isn't close to them, in fact deep down he probably wants Dubous to win as that may be an easier fight for AJ than Hirgovic
I like the idea of Brits vs Yanks to be honest, that way the UK audience gets something to shout about for pioneering this phase, but the rest of the world isn't being constantly fed two British promoters all the time. Or for a completely different audience Yanks vs Mexicans, Rest of the World vs Russia, etc etc (that last one is tongue-in-cheek but would be quite a promotion).
Can't believe Dev Sahni is actually talking up Bivol's stand-in opponent as a potential upset. He's worse than Company Nelson!
Dubois dropping the F bomb at the post weigh in interview - love seeing him come out of his shell, go on big D
Interesting seeing which fighters are wearing the "team" gear and which aren't, whether they're taking the whole 5v5 thing seriously or not... most of the big names aren't bothering. Probably wondering if they're getting a cut of the $3m bonus?
This content is protected I already wanted to see Hutchinson get beat, then I saw this video and now I want him to get humiliated. Standing there with his boys all smirking and laughing at everything he says while Richards is on his own. Guy reminds me of Billy Joe Saunders.
Kind of feel sorry for Bivol getting lost on this undercard. Could have been undisputed and maybe retired after this if he wanted. Hope His Excellency isn't stiffing him for the purse, it's not his fault Beterbiev got injured!
I disagree. Matchroom still have the much better fighters but domestically between all 3 promoters it’s pretty even. I guess that’s what happens when you start focusing on promoting shows internationally. Matchroom still have world champions in Opetaia, Jesse Rodriguez, Bivol, Boots Ennis and Subriel Matias. Disagree. Andy Cruz for example could have been selected but Queensberry rightfully didn’t want to put Noakes or Chamberlain in with him. The event is “in conjunction with Goldstar Promotions”. When did he first start appearing with Fury? I only remember him from the Ngannou fight. Seems a bit dodgy. Goldstar Promotions sponsor the relaunched BoxNation interestingly.
I'd never heard of Spencer Brown or Goldstar until some YouTube channel started to mention the Fury on-stage tour (which eventually became John Fury as well as Tyson). Assumed he was a family friend making a few bob. Now he's basically the link to Saudi and even Hearn gives him a shout, it's all a bit strange. Not going to cast any aspersions but it's quite the rise to prominence.
Disagree. There were easily alot more bigger fights to make between them 4 years ago than there is now
