There's a lot of negativity towards Wilder, he says some outlandish things, however I think we can all agree that in his prime, his power with that right hand is incredible.

Many people including boxers have even said Wilder is the hardest hitter in history. I can't comment exactly, but from my point of view only Tyson is comparable. But as a single shot, I don't know which boxers could be ahead of prime Wilder.

Whether you like or hate him, he attracted interest. People watched. Knowing that a knockout could happen and it always did, kept people engaged. I will miss this.

It's always a question of what might have been, we know his technique is poor and never addressed this. His younger athleticism allowed him to get away with so much, but his anticipation and speed are all gone now so he should call it quits. He's been world champion, had an enthralling trilogy and produced highlight reels which will be watched forever.

Where do you think Wilder's hitting ranks in the all time list?

The line of guys he fought was embarrassing. His first 4 or 5 title defenses were the worst in history against completely mediocre handpicked opponents. His career was carefully crafted for a reason.

Wilder's supposedly "legendary " punching power was the product of selective matchmaking. Most HWs could knock out the collection of uter stiffs and mediocrities his record is padded with.

He was a huge puncher but there have been many huge punchers over the years. His power will always be remembered but it's impossible to rank punching power.

Too bad he spent his "prime" fighting cans and cab drivers.

He never ever KO or even KD anyone with a legit iron chin, let alone granite one. Never.
He is very good though at beating tomato cans and taxi drivers. I give him that.

I agree with this but he definitely had serious power. Maybe it gets over hyped on here though.

Bull****. He couldn't box a lick and slept guys like no one else. All he had was power. Earnie Shavers is oft considered the hardest puncher in the history of the division. Who exactly did he KO?

Impossible to say because he fought such a bunch of puddings in his prime. He certainly looked like he had that Randall Bailey type of power but the truly elite punchers are able to demonstrate that power against the very best. Wilder has those knockdowns against Fury but how impressive is that really considering how fragile Fury's chin is? I'd put him around a Morrison or Shavers level, but Tyson he is nowhere near.

Meh… I’ve always said there have been harder hitters. I still think Wlad hit harder and probably Tua and Lewis too.

Wilder is lucky to have won a version of a heavyweight belt and defended them against absolute stiffs.
He has zero boxing technique and relies on landing a Hail Mary punch every fight.

Look at the record. First 5-6 years, total losers, the worst collection of bums I've ever seen a HW prospect fights and Wilder fought this level of opposition for much longer:

    https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/468841

Then you have better known guys like Harrison, Scott, Molina, Spzlika, Dauhapas, etc., etc. - none of whom were particularly good, or particularly durable. In other words exactly the kind of fighters you want to select to build a KO record.

Even the rated opponents he faced, like Stiverne and Ortiz were old, and overrated.

Sorry but a careful look at WHO Wilder fought establishes that his supposed power is WAY overrated.

Exactly. It's amazing to me how many people have bought into this con job.
