Why is Bivol disparaged for lack of stoppages, while Mayweather was praised?

Dont 100% agree with the title but for me the bigger the weight class, the higher the expectancy for you to get a knockout. Mayweather started at 135 and jumped up the divisions so naturally less is expected in terms of KO’ing guys whereas Bivol should be knocking out guys like Arthur or Richards 9 times out of 10.

It's not an excuse though it's often cited that Mayweather had bad hands in the latter parts of his career. Not that I'm saying he was ever a big puncher because he wasn't but he certainly had more pop between Super Featherweight-Jr Welterweight.

You're also saying Mayweather beat up on smaller fighters but isn't Bivol's best win against Canelo ? What elite Light Heavyweight has Bivol beaten ?

I'm not a fan of Mayweather but I enjoyed his fights vs Chavez, Ndou, Corley, Augustus, much more than any dull 12 rounder I've seen Bivol fight.

Bivol is very good don't get me wrong but as I said in another thread hes the modern day version of Winky Wright, two very good technical fighters with a high guard defense that aren't particularly exciting to watch.

Why? Richards has never been stopped. In fact, he's never even been knocked down.

Floyd went the distance with many faded boxers who had been recently brutally KOed - Cotto, Berto, Pacquiao, etc.

    Yep. Quite right.

Even less expectancy then when you give away that kind of size as opposed to someone who's been fighting at 175 his whole pro career.

Well because I'd expect anyone moving up from British level and getting draws with the likes of Sudgen and losing to Buglioni to get knocked out at elite level regardless, it happens all the time, no? Happened to Yarde when he stepped to Kovalev, happened to Arthur when he stepped to Yarde (who wasn't even elite) and Bivol still couldn't KO him after. Happened to Johnson when he stepped to Beterbiev.

I hold Bivol and Floyd in the same bracket but with Bivol being the bigger guy and having fought at 175 his whole career, would think he'd be the 1 getting more KO's.

I didn't spell criticise wrong, Google it.

Find a valid comparison for what you're saying.

So find Chris Mannix tweet about Bivol not stopping someone, then find his tweet when Floyd beat someone of a similar quality on points.

It just seems a very false premise.

I think aside from anything else Bivol suffers from 2 contextual things:-

    1) He ko'd the 11 out of the first 13 in his career, but after Barrera they dried up
    2) Beterbiev, his main competition has 100% KO ratio

When Bivol decided it was time to bring out the big guns his opponent didn't last long did he? As for Bivol being too big for Ginger he weighed an enormous FOUR OUNCES heavier at weigh in. Get real Bivol exposed Ginger for the fraud he really is
Mayweathers gone!! retired!! promoting circus events to rob fans !! Forget him his day is OVER He's been exposed too

CJ no offence but you're one to talk you can't help yourself but to get involved in every debate or argument whenever Mayweather's name mentioned.

I could careless about Mayweather I'm not fan I never was and barely ever mention his name, but Bivol has not beaten a single elite Light Heavyweight yet. So if someone is going to bring up about Mayweather beating up on smaller fighters. It does seem baffling to me that the same fighter that they're defending, their most notable victory is against a fighter moving up in weight who's best weight is clearly Super Middleweight.

Bivol is very good as I said but I don't understand the point of this thread honestly, Mayweather was often criticized for his safety first approach and lack of stoppages at Welterweight.

I’m pretty sure Larry OG Merchant was critical of Mayweather…

BUT does Bivol have a state commission & Vegas boxing officials behind him to keep his record intact???? NO!!! but Floyd did. They gifted him "wins" he did not deserve & covered up his indiscretions. He was NOT a legitimate 50-0 far from it
