Somewhat After 2020 Fury has been battling with dodgy elbow joints. Usyk himself has had issues with his shoulders. Both have changed their styles quite a lot over the last 6 years. Both are taking Cortisol shots. Fury showed a bit of old and new in that bout. His stamina fading so badly shows regression...but Usyk himself showed regression. Both these guys ARE FINISHED. They are end of life. They gave us a great dance we can only hope the rematch does the same before they BOTH retire. The real problem for Fury is his lack of conditioning year in and out finally catching up to him. After Chisora he should have stayed in shape...he didn't. He has to stay fit up to the run up of the rematch camp or he might as well retire.
Not at all. He looked great. The best we've seen him look in a very long time. He just fought a truly great fighter who is levels above him in ever regard sans size and without that huge size advantage it wouldn't have even been competitive It's astonishing how threatened many are by Usyk and how eager they are to discredit him given the path he's opted to travel, a path so so many of their favourites would never dare tread, and the way he conducts himself in and out of the ring. He literally embodies everything right, great and honourable about our sport and our species but they're so desperate to disparage him whilst they simultaneously worship at the altars of manufactured and protected frauds, filthy dirty serial cheats and hype jobs who cherrypick, duck, stack the deck to the extent that they're essentially rolling with loaded dice, and who wouldn't dare take a fraction of the risks he takes religiously at the drop of a hat.
He won the war lol, Wilder is afraid to throw punches now, dude is a shell that needs to retire. But he won the war lmao.
Fury lost to the superior fighter That is it in a nutshell I personally think he put up a good performance, but zero excuses. He had all the time in the world to get ready, he brought his best and he lost to a better fighter
No. He still has a few fights left in him. If he prepares properly and takes the rematch seriously he has a good chance at reclaiming his belt.
I agree Serge. Well said. Fury looked really good in parts of that fight. Sharper and crisper than we'd see him in a long time, maybe ever. He just met an exceptional opponent in cruiserweight Usyk. Credit where credit is due.
Thanks. Yeah it was plain to see and Usyk has been past his prime for years, didn't look close to his best, and let's not forget that Belly has screwed him around royally and deliberately tried to age him out.
Maybe. He doesn't live the lifestyle and he's been knocked down hard plenty of times now. But the reality is Fury was the pre fight favourite, and up until round 7 looked better than he ever had done in his whole career. As they came out for the 7th round everyone was expecting him to go on and achieve his crowning victory. Instead Usyk upped the pace, bust his nose and then smacked him around for the rest of the fight. Much more damaging to Fury, than the Wilder trilogy was the amount of yes men he now has in his corner. Had they told him going into the 10th round he was now down on points, Fury could have given himself a chance, but instead he carries on thinking he's out boxing Usyk and that he's up on points. The lack of desperation by Fury is ridiculous to see.
