OK so you probably had a few faves you liked to watch, but anyone in particular that you loved seeing fight? For me personally, it was Hagler. Knowing he was fighting always had me pumped up. Especially those mega fights of his.
As a kid in the 80's it was definitely Tyson. He was a just a force of nature and such a crossover star for how he just destroyed people. There are certainly guys that I appreciate more, but Tyson was must see TV back in those days.
Tyson and Roy Jones…Roy Jones was the Michael Jordan of Boxing. Must c tv. After beating Ruiz people were dying for him to fight Wlad. Would have been better to die on that shield then the Tarver one he did die on.
The summer of 88? He was all over the place, everything was about him. The build up to the Spinks fight, Robin Givens, mitch Green! Crazy. No ones come close to it since imo
Norton Foreman the 4 Camacho Haugen Carbajal Benn Watson Tyson and loads of great fights & fighters on ESPN, Friday Night and Tuesday Night Fights... there used to be hundreds of great fights & fighters televised.
So many...... Of course Ray Leonard Roberto Duran Aaron Pryor Esebio Pedroza Alexis Arguello T. Hearns Hector Camacho (Before Rasario, after he became hard to watch.) Marvin Johnson Howard Davis Jr. John Mugabi Marvin Hagler many, many more.........
Man did I grow up at a good time for boxing. Tyson, Hagler, Duran, Hearns, SRL... I actually watched Hagler-Hearns live with my father. I was 7, but I actually do remember sitting next to him in this big ugly brown recliner we had, and my dad going nuts with excitement during the fight. ... and now I'm substantially older than my father was in that early memory. ****, time is a MF'er.
Hi Buddy. I was thinking the same, I grew up at a good time for boxing, only my time was the 70s , Napoles, Olivares, Duran, Monzon, Foster, Ali, Briscoe, Lopez, Chacon, Canto, this lot would grace any decade. stay safe Barrf, chat soon .
