No, I am not saying that Anthony Joshuas plan was to duck Wilder forever. I think they would've fought this year had Wilder beaten Parker. I'm just saying that Joshua could've fought Wilder instead of Wallin and instead of Ngannou. I don't think he was planning on ducking him forever. Just think Joshua and his team didn't think they were ready for the risk at the time
It's a good point about Wilder rematching Fury. It seems like Wilder and his team thought that they'd knock out Fury cause Wilder was so close to knocking out Fury the first time. They probably thought that worse case scenario Wilder loses a decision cause Fury outboxes Wilder and the AJ fight would still be there. Horrible management by Wilders team. Fury was a cherry pick gone wrong and then on top of that they rematched Fury thinking they had the edge. Stylistically Wilder matched up with Joshua better than he did vs Furt
Wilders instincts and athleticism has completely left him now, and with his lack of skill it’s what he relied on in his championship years.
Ortiz beat wins was beating two average boxers in Jennings and Martin (who dropped him twice). Another overrated HW with thin resume.
After Furys poor showing against Ngannou, why wouldn't AJ take the opportunity make a show reel statement against the same opponent? A high paying easy nights work against a high profile (albeit inexperienced) boxer.
Wilder Ducked how dare you. This man had title defenses against Molina, Duhaupas, Szpilka, Arreola, Washington and even Stiverne who was retired for years because he was so feared no one would fight him until Wilder. Next you will be saying the only reason he took the Fury fight was because he thought Fury was washed up fat and inactive did you see the Fury fights before Wilder he made Pianeta and Seferi look like they was not top contenders oh wait
He was not given the opportunities that the UK contenders were. Ortiz was viewed as a top 5 heavyweight when Wilder beat him I think his skill level was better than his resume The Martin fight was after Wilder Kod Ortiz twice. Clearly not the same fighter after that
Wilder vs Joshua were scheduled to fight if they both won their fights Parker and Wallin. Joshua did his part by destroying Wallin where as Wilder failed by getting dominated by Parker hence the fight was off and everyone lost interest in the fight.
Ortiz's best win was Bryant Jennings in 2015 almost 3 years prior to fighting Wilder. Ortiz had a good record on paper but his opposition wasn't that strong and he only had 1 notable victory. Its Wilder's best win for sure and he does deserve some credit for the victory, but Ortiz doesn't have a good resume and he was old aswell and was not proven at world level for you to claim such a thing.
Any facts to back that up or is this like the $50m offer from Wilder if you say it enough it must be real
It was reported whilst with Matchroom he was offered the fight with Whyte but turned it down to fight Dave Allen instead. Ortiz also turned down the chance to step and fight AJ as the Miller replacement. The chances were there for Ortiz.
Wilder was too bust fighting the likes of Stiverne who was retired because he couldn't get anyone to fight because he was to much of a risk until the hero Wilder gave him a rematch
