U asked what HoF and I named them. Williams had over 30 professional fights. He wasn’t “a kid”. How many HOF fighters did ur list as a whole KO? I’d be surprised if they added up to what Archie’s total was combined

Do you,or do you not ,accept that Louis did not land right hands on Marciano because he did not throw them?

None of those three are HOF'ers.

Yes Williams was a 20 years old kid.

Ezzard Charles said Satterfield hit him harder than Marciano did.

Toney was clearly out of shape at heavyweight and certainly appears to be a naturally smaller man than Marciano given he fought at middleweight. His mobility was limited at that weight. In him we have an example of a guy naturally no bigger than Rocky taking shots from 230 plus men like Rahman which calls into question the idea a man Rockys size can't take shots from more modern giants.

With Ruiz photographic evidence puts him at 6ft or slightly under and he's clearly out of shape and carrying excess fat. Joshua is 6'5 1/2 and appears to be around 6 inches taller than Ruiz

The difference being Toney had excellent defence.

I've no idea the HOF means nothing to me, it's a popularity contest.

Satterfield got knocked out by Moore, Layne, and Charles, all of whom Marciano KO'd.

Charles was never off his feet with Satterfield. He was three times against Marciano and indeed took a full ten count.

Quotes are interesting, but not definitive evidence.

Toney was a 200 pound quarterback in high school and shredded. The weight gaming in the 90's was way different than in the 50's. More divisions, more incentive to get down, more supplements to do so... James also had 6 inches of reach on Marciano. He also was one of the most gifted defensive fighters of his generation. He also had quicks. Thus, he really was nothing like Marciano.

If you are short, have no reach, are clumsy and slow, you really don't have an equivalent in the modern heavyweight division. There is a reason for that.

And how often was Marciano hit w punches? Total connect percentage by his opponents was 24.5%…the next question is how good has one got to be to be considered good defensively? Because that’s a lower percentage than Louis, Liston, Holmes, Ali, Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Frazier and plenty more. Was unable to find Toney’s numbers if anyone has them please post for comparison
The overall average for HWs for this stat is 33.8% Marciano is welllll better then average defensively. Top tier according to the numbers

I didn’t say the other three were I specifically said borderline HOF and decent contenders
Marciano knocked out Charles Satterfield didn’t.
Also with the right hands. I’ve asked once and won’t continue down this but show me footage of any fighter consistently throwing right hands at Marciano and connecting regularly. U won’t find any fights where Marciano’s opponents r throwing a ton of rights. He was to hard to hit w that shot. Combine that w an older fighter and it’s a bad mix. Two things can be true at once.

That’s pretty good going though. At that time Ezzard was the best active heavyweight and of the guys Louis was still beating Joe was kind of matching Charles results.

The next champ was going to be Walcott, Who Louis already beat. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. If Louis never fought afain after beating Bivins.. had he retired then, 10-0 comeback, who knows what people would now be saying about comeback Louis.

5 months earlier Beshore had taken the then world champion 14 rounds. So Louis stopping Beshore on cuts in 4 rounds within that time frame is a decent result.

like I say, good going for a comebacking chanpion to register statement wins like that against relevant fighters of the day

Lee Savold was coming off a career best result. Riding as high as he ever would. The Euro version of a world title. 50,000 fans in a stadium fight. It’s a good win for an ex champion. A great Kayo finish. Highlight reel worthy.

If Satterfield hit harder than Marciano is a iffy, but going by the film of the Charles Satterfield fight, Charles drop Bob in 2 rounds in a not very close fight imo. Yeah Satterfield got some shots in, but I really dont think they did the damage that Marciano's would down the road in the first fight.
