No. He doesn’t have the skill set.

He can do stuff at heavy but he's not the same level of talent as Usyk, so no.

P.S. I like Opetaia a lot, just keeping it real.

Right now, it doesn't look so. Too small and no defense.

He could improve, though. And the next generation of heavies is going to be garbage, so....

Opetaia is one of my favorite fighters right now but I think even the Chisora that Usyk faced would give him hell on Earth. He just doesn’t have the build of a heavyweight, nothing wrong with dominating cruiserweight.

Yet was dropped by Beterbiev in the amateur
It's one thing to have power, another thing to land

He is just 1 inch shorter than Usual, could definitely be the same weight as Usyk now

Yes Opetaia can become the heavyweight champion of the world.

Usyk, Haye, Holyfield have shown that size isnf everything at heavyweight (Haye was never the guy but still a top heavyweight at one point) especially in this era where heavyweights are so lacking in skill and stamina

Depends on how good these new young heavyweights like Kabayel, Itauma, Anderson, Dubious, Jalolov, Torrez get.

Opetaia is someone who can be in the mix

Just ask Fury what year is this to see if Usyk has 'any power to rely on'.

I didn’t like how he looked when old inactive Bredis started to put it on him. But Bredis is a tough customer I’ll hold judgement u til I see a few more fights.

Usyk and Holyfield had crazy chins, don't mark up and had great engines, they could take that power and handles the physical exertion of being in with a bigger opponent, I can't see Opetaia doing that based on the Briedis performances where he faded, was hurt and busted up.

He will need to make some improvement defensively as well as improve his stamina if he ever decides to make that jump up. He has a lot of natural talent but he's a level below Holyfield and the Usyk's from what I've seen, more like David Haye, loads of speed and power but lacks the durability, toughness and stamina to make that jump up and dominate.

Can he follow the same path as Usyk? Of course & he already is. The real question is how far down that road can he go. Like Usyk, he was a 2012 Olympian (Opetaia qualified as a 16 yo losing by a point as a 17 yo to the guy who Usyk faced in the final of the 2011 World Championships), he's won an alphabet belt (twice now) & is The Ring magazine champion. The next step up for him is a unification fight. Win that (or those) & he's in line to face the winner of Beterbiev v Bivol. That's a tough road to hoe but if he keeps winning the H/W division is a logical end-destination.

No it was at heavyweight. 200lbs
    Beterbiev however was lighter
