Define "limited" Frazier was limited because he was a plodder with one good hand. Jimmy Ellis was more a light heavyweight than full fledged heavyweight, as typical of the heavyweights in those days Ellis really didnt have much going for him, winning a couple of controversial bouts that went the distance and gained him a paper title for a few months. Nobody even talks about him on this forum! David would send that light heavyweight kicking in two rounds, if he even makes it that far. Both Frazier and Tua are come forward fighters so David automatically wins this as he is better suited to fast paced bouts. First round tko/KO for Tua as he defeats his first legend
There's another side of the sport beyond offense that's called defense, and in that area, Frazier was miles ahead of Tua. Tua had no head movement to speak of and couldn't infight. He was devastating at midrange, and he wasn't in Frazier's class on the inside, nor he was as defensively adept as Joe. There's also another component/s... heart and will. Frazier had as much will as any fighter in history, whereas Tua lacked will. There's no evidence to suggest Tua could blow out a fighter of Frazier's caliber. Foreman or Tyson could blow out Frazier, but Tua was MILES off from being in the class of those two. Are you ignoring the fact that he had a tough fight with Izon? David f**king Izon. Picture Frazier struggling and going 12 with Izon... or Oleg... Your prediction seems heavily based on a combination of myth and recency bias. Tua ain't beating Frazier.
Tell me about Tua’s work rate vs Lewis, Byrd, Rahman. And what was Ike? A promising up and comer whose reputation has blown out of all proportion due to his absence from the sport. Much like Tony Ayala.
Frazier has the higher work rate, that would keep him ahead and get a win.i don't think he actually stops Tua but gets a decision win. But can't rule Tua out completely, he hits way to hard for that!
For a guy with no defense Tua wasn't even buzzed let alone dropped until long after he should have hung up the gloves. And you're ignoring the fact that Frazier went life and death, including dropped twice, against limited Oscar Bonavena. Oscar f**cking Bonavena.
That was Frazier's 13th pro fight and it was the first notable opponent he'd fought obviously it was a learning experience. I know damn well Frazier has never struggled against someone as limited as Jeff Wooden who Tua barely scrapped by and that was Tua after 30 professional fights!!!!!
Amazing Frazier was ostensibly so good he managed one of the most vaunted & feared body attacks in all of Boxing history with only one hand. The man must’ve been even better than I thought. People need to make this myth die a natural death. Frazier was not even close to being a one-handed fighter. He had a signature punch for upstairs, founded on an enormously prodigious, two-fisted body attack. & it would drain the sand out of Tua like an hour glass.
Frazier used that right to the body like a hammer. I have been ridiculed on this board for pointing this out. But no one ever hurt Tua until he was a doddering middle age has-been. And good luck throwing that right low when David's left hook will be coming in return.
Tua ****s him up in my opinion. Frazier is trying to swarm one of the best sluggers we've seen at heavyweight. A smaller weaker guy wants to box Tua, hit and run, show him angles, make him chase. Last thing you want to do is stand in front of him and exchange broadsides. Tue was not particularly fast but he was extremely heavy handed and could take endless punishment in turn. He'd have to slip and slide like crazy and learn some new tricks imho to make Tua miss. Frazier was pretty fast but he has nothing on Tua in terms of raw power on his flush punches or in terms of durability. Tua also goes well to the body which is an additional complicating factor for Frazier because head movement alone isn't going to cut it. Frazier would have to become an un-Frazierlike fighter to win this one imho.
