For me Groves vs Froch were 1-1. Groves well beat Froch first time. Complete BS stoppage, still annoys me rewatching it to this day. Ridiculous stoppage.
It was a BS stoppage but I think Froch would've gone on to beat Groves regardless Froch was coming on strong in the later rounds and Groves was noticeably fading and getting weaker.
To answer the thread question: Rolly's "stoppage" of Barroso where he landed zero punches before Tony Weeks handed him a gift is the worst stoppage of late I can think of. Blatant robbery.
Agree. Absolutely disgusting, whether it’s corruption or incompetence, Tony Weeks should never referee another boxing match again.
The stoppage was premature for sure, but Froch had turned the fight around and Groves looked like he was going to get stopped. Referee should have let the action play out and ruined what would have been a conclusive ending to the fight for Froch. It did create the hype for the rematch which ended up being a huge fight for the UK. So in some ways it was good for the sport and fighters involved as both got paid handsomely for the rematch. Was it the worst stoppage ever, no but it might be the most well known controversial stoppage of recent years, simply because of how exciting the fight was and how the rematch turned into a huge event.
Calzaghe Vs. Manfredo I would have punched that fat Brittish ref right in the face.. This content is protected
