Galento mentioned that he did his best against tall fighters that were like 6'8-6'9. He said that there was more target to hit. Galento had fast hands and great power, more power than Andy Ruiz. Once he connects that left hook on AJs chin, it can be all over.

Galanto was an obese middleweight. He was 5'8" at most, with a very short reach. Ruiz is a legit HW who just lacks all self control regarding diet.

Who did he face that met that description ? Also kind of a strange claim given that two of the taller guys he fought beat the crap out of him

Andy Ruiz has incredible hand speed, combinations and skill. I think Ruiz would work Galento. It's one thing to smoke a comedian outside of a nightclub or punch Lou Nova in the balls, but AJ would melt that two tons of ice down to a puddle. Having trouble seeing the common denominator between Galento and Ruiz outside of the obvious fatness, and I don't think Galento could hit as fast or as hard as Ruiz. Tony's defense was way worse in comparison and without the ability to wrestle and gouge, Galento was very limited.

Fine but Ruiz is also an obese middleweight and realistically only about 5'11. Lets not split hairs and pretend like the difference is so vast.

If a man by the name Unknown Winston could beat Galento, then so could AJ.

There is a difference, Ruiz is probably 6' (not the 6'2" he's listed) which while certainly not tall for the class is still about the minimum you need to be at HW now. That is a big difference between a guy who's 5'8" (some say 5'6" actually) taking on men well over 6', Galento apparently was about 160 lbs when he first turned pro.

Ruiz could get in better shape but it'd be silly to see him as anything ever below CW.

Galento was rough and tough and hit hard but in no universe was he as good a boxer as Ruiz. He was also moving with all the speed of a snail compared to Andy's tight fast flurries. Those big hook / haymakers of Galento would be countered by AJ's straight punching and he'd be in deep ****. Galento was more like an Alen Babic type. Babic is better trained though.

I agree with everything here except the power. Galento could hit harder, no doubt. Ruiz on another level with pretty much the rest.
