Is Usyk really great or only shows how horrible the current HW division is?

He beat the guys Patterson ran from.

 

Usyk will be in the Hall of Fame as one of boxing's greatest.

Outside Usyk, the current era is mediocre at best with only Fury having elite boxing skills with Joshua and Wilder cherry picking soft opponents for years.

Everyone knew to be the champ you had to beat Patterson. From the moment Lewis retired, until the moment Usyk beat Fury, that hasn't been the case.

That's not David Jaco, Tyrell Biggs or White. All of them are grown a$$ men, have skill (Wilder is debatable) and can bang.

Usyk is obviously an exception, but head to head, give me the skilled big man against the skilled smaller man every day.

 

Imagine including Whyte on that list, he is crap in terms of skill and has a Glass chin, and yet he still beat Parker. Joyce too, they would be getting schooled in the 90s. Povetkin was outboxing Joshua until he gassed, which had nothing to do with size. He also lost to Ruiz an obese cruiserweight who used all that size for Fck all, and Fury has fought a small number of contenders, including getting dropped by shorter guys who aren't big punchers both ranked and unranked.

Overrated as hell size is. Looks like we'll need another 6'3 and below champion to finally seal this up

Wlad was very clearly the champ though ay a certain point.

 

Whilst Vitali was around it was a raging debate that went on.

Stiverne and Wilder still held a portion of the championship whilst Wlad had the other belts, both were calling themselves a world champion, both were introduced as world champions, both were recognised as world champions.

 

It's not a strawman at all. Patterson did not fight his top contenders the same way that AJ did.

 

Well his actual top contender was Ingo and he did fight him, his next top contender was Liston and he did fight him, so that's not true.

Plus Patterson had contenders since he was the undisputed champion.

AJ hadn't even proven himself that as he never actually faced the other title holders.

Machon started out #1 in January-June, to be replaced by Foley in July-September

So Machon was passed over, maybe Foley a little bit.

AJ faced the ones he could get in the ring. Wilder ADMITTEDLY turned down tons of money to face Fury, and Fury go himself locked with with Wilder. So no foul on Joshua.

 

And the man who knocked out Machen in a round was who Patterson defended against.

Like I said Patterson missing some challengers is not comparable to AJ failing to even become undisputed in the first place.
