I think that after the sixth round, Valuev's chances would only increase... with each subsequent round.

    "Starts" to gas???

He's usually pretty far gone by the end of the sixth.

It's a very big "IF". It was proven over and over again you can't survive really hard puncher relying on your chin only. You need more than that - movement, defense etc. Like Parker. Valuev had neither movement nor defense needed for avoiding getting hit by Zhang. That means he would be put to sleep early

100%. There is no comparison. Valuev was so much bigger but also so much more technical and cerebral.

I honestly believe Valuev has a much better chance here than most are giving him credit for.

Valuev was actually a good athlete, but people tend to remember his later years after he declined. And as Emanuel Steward once mentioned, Valuev's decline was sudden and fast, in a way that you do not usually see. The drop-off for Valuev was indeed drastic as far as those things usually tend to go.

Any half decent HW who gets past 5 rounds with Zhang has an excellent chance of beating him.

    Can Valuev last 5 rounds?

Kari Wuhrer and Shannon Tweed said SNV was the best lover they've ever had, and by some distance.

Peak Valuev, the very best version of him, lost about 10-11 rounds against small southpaw Chagaev.

That was a competitive fight, and the score cards reflected that except for one judge which made it overly wide and the commentators disagreed on that card.

It's hard to fight a fast, mobile, short, skilled heavyweight/cruiser like Chagaev when he ducks, weaves, bobs and Valuev is 13 inches taller.

It would be a different story against a stationary 6'6 guy like Zhang with Valuev landing a lot more clean power shots

It wasn't competitive at all, it was schooling. Valuev's promoters ruled that event but even they couldn't rob Chagaev like they did rob Donald and ancient Holyfield

Here is Valuev at his absolute physical peak fighting old, fat 5'9" cruiserweight Marcelo Dominguez who said he didn't have a single round of sparring prior to this fight. And peak Valuev looks absolutely awful here, as you can see:

In no way was it competitive. Chagaev won at the very least 9 rounds clearly (more like 11 rounds). Valuev was absolutely clueless

Chagaev's fights vs Carl Drummond and Travis Walker were WAY more competitive than his schooling of Valuev
