Prime for prime, best version of Fury and the opponent, over which of the following fighters would you make Tyson Fury the favourite?

    Jack Dempsey
    Joe Louis
    Rocky Marciano
    Sonny Liston
    Muhammad Ali
    Joe Frazier
    George Foreman
    Ken Norton
    Larry Holmes
    Mike Tyson
    Lennox Lewis
    Andrew Goleta
    Riddick Bowe
    Vitali Klitschko
    Wlad Klitschko (prime)
    David Tua
    Anthony Joshua
    Joseph Parker
    Zhilei Zhang
    Filip Hrgovic

    I'm pretty sure Fury beats.....

    Hrgovic
    Zhang
    Marciano
    Parker
    Tua
    Golota
    Dempsey

The other names he would definitely take losses but I'm not sure how many but my guess would be atleast 5 losses with the remaining fighters left.

Unless a fighter has pillow fists, there's always a punchers chance... But prime Fury (ie: Fury as he fought Wlad) was pillowfisted, so he hasn't got a real punchers chance in any fight he's outmatched in.

    Realistically...

    Hrgovic has absolutely no chance.

Zhang - I have no idea when his prime was, he wasn't even fighting ranked opponents at the age when most fighters are prime... Would he have been equally powerful but with a less awful gas tank?
Regardless - Zhang likely has a punchers chance at best.

Parker - we haven't necessarily seen the very best of Parker yet... But odds would be strongly in favour of a Fury UD - neither is knocking the other out, and it's hard to imagine Joe winning on the cards.

    Joshua would be a 50/50.

He might box Tua's ears off - but I wouldn't necessarily bet on it... He's been knocked down by lesser punchers and could easily have been KO'd here.

Vitali's often overrated, but I'm not sure Fury would see the final bell - if Vitali could keep coming at Lewis with cuts, he'd have no problems at all walking down Fury.

I think I'd struggle to put Fury top 10 H2H, let's put it that way... He's not trash, but he's not special enough to feature that highly.

    None of them

Prime Holmes & Lennox would be the most competitive because they we're big men who could box off a jab.

Dempsey, Marianco and Louis far too small and Frazier too. Smokey Joe would be game...for about 6 rounds.

Ali wouldn't be able to outclinch Fury so what can he do? not much. Foreman gets moved on by Fury. Same with the rest unmentioned

Fury handles any version of Wlad. Wlad is 1 dimensional and robotic. AJ another 1 dimensional robot. plodding bum. Plodding bums cannot beat Fury. Usyk beat Fury because he's not a plodding bum.

Not sure why Golota is even in this list. Who?!

Mythical prime Mike Tyson is a danger to anyone without a total iron dome....but never saw him fight a pulse in his "prime". Clearly dangerous as hell though for 6 rounds.

    You think he beats Tyson?
I know there is an awful size difference, but I think Mike would break him

The best Fury could do is hug him for 12 rounds and lose a points decision

I know the mythical prime tyson was overrated by casuals, but he's underrated now. He would absolutely smash a the top heavyweights now

Joshua would be terrified of his fast combinations up close and would for sure lose by knock out

Usyk gets caught left right and centre to the body and head. He gets hit too often to beat someone like Mike, who is even faster and a much better puncher

Funny I think Fury would give him the most trouble, but Mike isn't chisora. He would chop Fury down like a tree, starting with his body and then his head

The 80s guys are underrated and some of them where slick and can actually box. These lumps are bums now apart from Usyk. Parker an honest fighter would do absolutely nothing in the 90s. His countryman would take his head of his shoulders

    :lol::lol::lol:

Fury wouldn't stand a chance with Lewis.

The only way you beat Lewis is by knocking him out - Fury never had that kind of power, he wouldn't even have a punchers chance.

Lewis knocks out Fury 7/10... He takes a UD the other 3/10.

Fury wouldn't have a prayer with the H2H GOAT.

Who was bigger than Lennox & tried to outbox him over the distance? Vitali? Fury boxes Lennox up the joint. It's a good fight. Better than Wlad.

    Lol true
I like a good debate and a little bit of banter

I'm just trying to make it fun and try not to take it personally. It's only boxing at the end of the day!!

Its too much for me to ignore. You can say the Lewis fight was later on but it does not give me confidence in Tysons ability to make opponents that large feel his power. If Fury could take Wilders best shots he can take Tysons.

Maybe you're right on the thing where hes underrated now but won't favor him over Fury regardless.

Whether I agree with you on the 80s depends which guys you're talking about. The divisions depth was certainly underrated but its feel like its a little lower down the rankings and not at the very top.

1" in reach and realistically 2-3" in height (Fury clearly isn't his claimed 6'9")...
That's not enough to make the difference.

Sure, Fury has 4-5" in reach over Vitali - but he also doesn't have quite as good a chin... And we're talking a prime Lewis, not the shot version VitKlit lost to.

Fury would try and spoil his way to victory - but he'd get busted up and stopped more often than not... He was never evasive enough to survive Lennox.

Let's be honest here, Fury's lucky he hasn't been stopped several times.
Against a true ATG with far more power and skill than the guys who put him down? He stays down.
