I'm still not 100% sure about this matchup. I was honestly hoping Wilder would at least show something left in the tank or go out on his shield landing something big so we can get a better gauge on Zheng's chin. Unfortunately, Wilder is completely shot and even his power seems to be fizzling. Zheng did what he was supposed to do and displayed fairly good timing, accuracy, ring IQ, and of course his crushing power.

That being said, logically, if we are factoring in everything (eye test, resume, skill, etc) we should still favor Foreman. Even 70's Foreman has a significantly better resume and skill set. Frazier 2x, Norton, Peralta 2x, Lyle, Chuvalo, and Ledoux are 2-3 entire tiers above Joyce 2x, Wilder, and Vargas. In terms of stats, this is how I see it:

    Power: Even
    Chin: Zheng possibly
    Speed: Foreman
    Footwork: Foreman
    Accuracy: Foreman
    Timing: Zheng
    Stamina: Foreman
    Combinations: Foreman
    Ring IQ: Zheng
    Body shots: Foreman
    Versatility: Zheng
    Defense: Zheng
    Punch variety: Foreman
    Experience: Foreman
    Strength: Zheng
    Heart: Foreman

    9-1-6 advantage Foreman.

Although Foreman has more advantages, Zheng is a pretty dangerous matchup. He is perhaps Foreman's equal in terms of raw thudding power, and is the bigger guy who can impose his size and weight on Foreman which is a rarity for the Texan. Zheng fights smarter than 70's Foreman, has pretty good timing, and has the southpaw x factor. Foreman will have his hands full regardless of the outcome even though I gave him the nod for several categories.

On the other hand, Foreman's jab, uppercuts, and brutal body shots will be major factors. To my knowledge, nobody has ever pounded Zheng to the body the way Foreman will. Also contrary to popular belief, Foreman can use lateral movement and doesn't need to just charge straight ahead mindlessly crashing into Zheng over and over. The Chuvalo fight is perhaps his best performance in terms of sticking to the jab and using his feet. Keep in mind Chuvalo not only had an iron chin, but also superb stamina--something Zheng sorely lacks, and that didn't save Chuvalo from being stopped. Foreman also beat better boxers than Zheng such as Norton and Peralta. They were smaller, but that can't be overlooked

The way I see it, Foreman is going to get nailed at some point. Zheng has both power and timing to hurt him and may score a knockdown or 2. But Foreman has the more proven heart and has won fights after being dropped. He also ironically has the more proven stamina for once. I think if Foreman uses his jab, his legs, hammers the body, and parries Zheng's shots he can eventually drown the Chinaman by the mid rounds or earns a close decision. Zheng too will get clipped by something big eventually. While he's huge, he's also not exactly a defensive wizard and is a big target with slow feet. Foreman could even conceivably score a KO. Anything is possible, but I'm leaning towards Foreman to get the job done in a very tense back and forth fight. Maybe we'll see more in the future for Zheng that swings the matchup in his favor, but at 41 with a fairly thin resume, I'm not holding my breath.

Foreman was on Bambi legs. If Young were more of a 12 kos in 56 fights kind of guy than 11, he would've stopped Foreman, who apparently still was ko'd in the locker room.

Enjoyed the read and breakdown man, even if I disagree with a few of your ratings.

I don’t see anywhere that Zhang has an advantage over Foreman.

You'd pick Foreman over Zhang in a chopsticks contest.

Why would Zhang "duck" under Foreman's punches? Zhang is much taller and bigger than GF, "ducking" to avoid punches from a 6-3, 217 pound man would be a ridiculous tactic for a big man like Zhang. It's much more likely that when Foreman jabs he eats a right hook from Zhang or if GF throws a wide right hand he eats a quick straight left from Zhang. Zhang is quick handed, huge, a southpaw. Foreman is much smaller but he fought as a big man in his era, he wouldn't know how to fight as the smaller man and he probably wouldn't last long.

Pat M stated that possibly only Tyson Fury could beat Deontay Wilder in the history of boxing at one point.

Apparently all the previous greats would’ve been putty in Deontays (right) hand

I'd have to check both in action with said chopsticks first in order to make an informed opinion. You are one of four out of 36 that picked Bang and needless to say you are in extremely fitting company.

It honestly looked more like a slip to me, and Young was hitting him as he went down.

Lets go the whole hog and end future madness. Hopefully these turn out.

Here's a still which conclusively shows the punch didn't even hit him in the head initially. It's gone around behind him and the follow thru cuffs Foreman and drags him off balance leading to him slipping down.

Here's the follow thru, you can see the red blur between Foreman's gloves. This is Young's right glove which has dragged past Foreman's head from the position in the previous pic and sent him off balance.

Added to this Young's right hand follow thru catches the crook of Foreman's elbow which further drags him toward and down.

Here's the start of the sequence where Young has pushed the laced part of the glove into his face and dragged it across his left eye which pushes his head back and blinds him for a split second as he Young launches his right hand.

The whole even Jimmy Young knocked him down often parroted to criticize his chin is a non event.

4/36 reminds me a lot of Jimmy Young’s knockout percentage.
