he landed two big ones. One that landed near the end of round 8 that stunned Fury and one in round 12 i believe. Why do you think he doesn't throw more right hooks with full force? He sometimes uses it as a check or to set up the overhand left. Is there any major risk in him throwing it early.
He almost doesn't throw anything with full force. His game is to have it won on points before he will commit to punching, and even then, very economically, when he is not going to be counter-punched. It is why he is a defensive master and always comes out ahead. He only deviated from that formula a little with Fury because he clearly knew he had to take some risks. Anyway, that it my opinion.
I don't disagree. If i were a fighter and had his skills, i would probably do the same. Still, Usyk is right handed to my knowledge, and i can't help but wonder how devastating a punch his right hook would be if he let it go.
Yeah, kind of like how Cooney was a southpaw and they turned him around to cultivate the brutal hook.
Let me tell you something my old friend Upgrayedd used to say, mostly to me: Hooking ain't for everybody.
He does have a SHARP snappy right hook when he sits on it. Has underrated power in his right. The dubois KO is proof in that. That was a full on jab without that much leverage on it. I just think when he’s ready to really commit to a shot, he just feels more comfortable firing the left. I hope he fires off a few full on right hooks in this rematch because Fury obviously will be thinking a lot about that straight Left.
This YT short highlights the counter right hook that set up the left hand in round 9. Each execution beautiful in its own right and so much more deadly when combined: - This content is protected
