Whatever Happened To Butterbean?

The last I saw of him he was getting schooled by 96 year Holmes.
Is he even still alive??

 

He fought in some low level MMA fights after his retirement, that was the last time I heard about him. Then there was an article about it on the other boxing outlet about a week ago.
He said He had a lot of health issues because of his weight and needed a wheelchair to move around. He was able to turn things around though and is now at around 280 pounds - much lower than at any point during his career - and says He feels good.

 

For 4 round fights Eric Esch was good ENOUGH. He wasn't a superstar, but he was OK.

Then Eric Esch entered MMA. Butterbean definitely has heart.

 

Apparently he feels so good now that he's talking comeback.

I always thought that his weight would end up screwing him up as he aged.

 

He was a big name back in the day, all that talk of him fighting Tyson..

 

Intresting reading, good on him.

 

He was in the audience at the Turning Stone show at the Hall of Fame weekend. Seen between rounds as the camera panned the crowd. Looked well, lighter,maybe.

 

He is emptying some Burger King somewhere.

I was just about to post this link myself. He has certainly turned his health around

 

He finally hit max sphericality & buoyancy and floated up to Everest's summit, where he lives off red panda meat and is undefeated in four-rounders against Sherpas.

 

Was just about to send this, a very inspiring video.

 

I met the guy last year in East Tennessee where he was signing autographs and taking pictures. He was as broke down as broke down can get.
