How could he out school Haney like Tank did when Tank hasn't even fought Haney? Are you referring to the sparring footage of a 16-year-old Haney against a mid-20s Tank as being representative of a real fight where Haney had a full camp and had improved significantly since then?

And Teo didn't beat him. That fight was a draw at best and Loma could barely use his right arm but still schooled Teo for half the fight. Teo won the 1st, 2nd was a swing, 3, 4, and 5 were Teo, 6th was Loma, 7th was Teo, 8th was clearly Loma, as was 9th, 10th, and Loma dominated the 11th enough that 10-8 wouldn't be unreasonable either, and outlanded Teo in the 12th as well as backing him up and landing the better punches. That's 6-5-1 Loma if we count the 2nd as even and even if we do give it to Teo it'd be draw were it not for the fact Loma battered Teo in the 11th enough to justify a 10-8 (which is completely legal within the scoring criteria) in which case it would still be 114-113 Loma. And Loma was able to do this all with a busted up right shoulder which he had emergency surgery on immediately after the fight. Yet this fight is held up as being the most clear example of Loma losing and being overrated despite the fact he has proven that he was injured (and Teo and his camp knew this because they had to sign off on allowing him his meds for sparring in camp) and still has a solid argument for winning this fight, or at the very least drawing.

If he isn't any good then how come he has won more than 400 fights across his whole career? Was every single one of the decorated amateurs and pros he thoroughly dismantled a bum? Were all of the boxing experts and pundits who proclaimed him as the best fighter on the planet and who waxed lyrical about his exemplary skillset all blind to the fact that he "is not that good"? Or maybe you just don't like the guy and I do, and that's fine but if you don't like Loma, say so rather than having to use sparring footage of teens as evidence of the fact that Loma, in a real fight against a grown man, performed worse than Tank did against a child in a spar.

I could justify anyone over Crawford.
If Loma beats Tank, he definitely jumps to the top 5. Stevenson hasn't done jack to be worth bragging about.

Canelo would have a better resume if his fights were real but they aren't and he's been protected his whole career as well as being a proven drug cheat, weight bully, and has used illegal wrapping techniques. His top 3 wins are GGG, Erislandy, and Trout and a good number of people will argue he never truly beat any of them. On paper, sure, his resume is better, but the conditions he got those wins under are all very poor and his skillset is pedestrian compared to Loma.
Bivol's resume is paper thin apart from the Canelo win (who's always been very overrated imo) and he doesn't have as great a skillset as Loma does.
Crawford's best win is a one-eyed, weight-drained car-crash victim who shouldn't have been cleared to fight and should have lost to Porter. Apart from that what does he have? Blown-up Gamboa? A semi-retired Porter? Postol who's own best win is scraping past a badly faded Matthysse and who he still ran from all night? (See how easy it is to poke holes in resumes?) And he sure as hell isn't more skilled than Loma either because Crawford is a brawler at heart and is limited beyond that.
Beterbiev gets a pass but I still rank Loma above him.
Tank hasn't fought anybody who wasn't a wax figure or who was actually trying to win. Tank's best win is still Pedraza and Pedraza arguably isn't even a top 5 win for Loma. His resume is ****-poor and his only skill is being a good counter-puncher but is severely limited beyond this.
Teofimo's best win is Loma and that win is debatable in its own right. Just compare how Loma did against Kambo, Jamaine, and Masayoshi to how Teo did against each. The only guy Teo beat up better than Loma was Commey and even then Loma still dominated and put a pounding on Commey.
Also the US holds the record for most Olympic medals in boxing by a considerable distance so I don't know where you got the assumption that there haven't been many excellent American amateurs from. Most Olympic medalists who do make it big in the pros will still have the fact that they were a medalist read out during their intros before fights so clearly amateur pedigree is somewhat important to a fighter's career. SRR used to have his undefeated record include his amateur fights as well as his pro fights in his marketing. There are dozens of decorated amateur Cubans and Soviets who never got a fair shake at the pros because they were never allowed to turn pro, but surely it can still be recognised that a guy like Teofilo Stevenson for example is an ATG based on his stellar amateur career. Lazlo Papp was inducted into the IBHOF based almost entirely on his amateur career so it surely plays some part in how we evaluate the greatness of certain fighters.

I love Usyk but I think Inoue is still the best right now. I just think Inoue is more well-rounded (only by a smidge though) and their wins are roughly as good (Nonito is better than anybody Usyk's fought though imo) I just think Inoue is better with his jab, variety of punches, and I think he's a better counterpuncher than Usyk but as good a pressure fighter. Usyk is better defensively but he's slowing and is getting caught more than he usually has too. Crawford isn't really part of the equation for me, I've got him at 6th p4p. I think Loma's more skilled than Usyk though, he's more authoritative with his jab, is better on the inside, and is a better combination puncher imo. My top 3 is Inoue, Usyk, and Loma (in that order) but I think any order is justifiable really.

Okay, I understand that you rank him very high. But, when I watch Usyk, I see real greatness. He convincingly outboxes and schools his opponents.

I don't see it in Loma. He wasn't that great even against Jamaine Ortiz.

Top 5 is where I'd out him also.

Shakur has done more than Tank though.

For me I think Usyk is the very clear number 1.

I think Crawford and Inoue can be argued about for 2 and 3.

I think whoever wins between Beterbiev and Bivol will be a very clear number 4.

It is impossible answer this question without knowing what the other top guys were doing during the same time frame.

He would certainly be at or near the top though.

I see you're not the best at seeing the point being raised. They fought at haney weight class.

Now I'm saying this as someone who is not a Loma fan and thinks he gets overrated by a lot of boxing fans:

If this old faded version of Loma decisively beats prime Tank Davis in 2024, I would class that as an ATG win. Better than Crawford's win over shot drained Spence, better than Usyk's win over shot alcoholic Fury, better than any of Inoue's wins (and I'm an Inoue fan).

Loma goes straight to p4p number 1 if that happens.

I didnt say anything bad about Usyk - he's top notch and in a 3-way tie for #1 in the world.

Usyk is ranked ahead of Loma PFP regardless of essentially anything that happens in their respective careers - Usyk has simply accomplished more...and that's saying a LOT cause a case could be made for Loma as greatest amateur ever.

Nonetheless just because Usyk beats much larger men doesnt mean its normal...because its NOT. Why did Mikey Garcia fail so bad against Spence? Or Jermell against Canelo? Or Donaire versus Walters? Or hell even Rigo versus Loma? ...its because a good big man beats a good little man. Weight (bone density), height, and length/reach do matter and need to be taken into consideration.

Loma didnt get wiped against Haney - many had him winning and/or a draw. Yet Jermell was shutout by Canelo, Mikey was shutout by Spence, Donaire was shutout and stopped by Walters, and Rigo quit against Loma after losing every round. No, Loma fought the taller, longer, and heavier/larger frame man and really shouldve got the nod (or at least a draw).

Loma, whose in his 3rd weight class, should be heralded for his career and willingness to fight any/everybody. I wish more fighters were like that and its promising that this new era appears to have that trait. Teo, Haney, and RyGa have all taken some tough fights in the early going. Hoping Shakur and Jaron put their money where their mouth is and take those tough fights but it hasnt happened yet.

Tank - and basically all of PBC - do NOT take those tough fights. They try to age opponents out (Tank w Loma or Floyd w Oscar or Deontay w Fury 1), drag them up in weight (Tank w LSC, Floyd w Hatton or JMM, Spence w Mikey), or drag them down w rehydration clauses (Floyd w Canelo, Tank w RyGa).

Nonetheless Loma was live in all of his losses and all of his losses were borderline controversial. Loma would be live versus Shakur or Tank
