Yeah I never understood that either tbh. Heavyweights never had a weight cap like the other divisions so why the *** would you have your guys cut? It makes little sense to me

I could see Foreman winning after 8 in a protected battle. I could see George winning in 2 if he caught zhang cold. Or, I could see George winning in 12 while asleep, outlanding Zhang 36 to 12. But, Zhang loses any way you want it.

Lack of knowledge, lack of science and misled beliefs would have been behind any weight cutting at Heavyweight. I mean didn't Archie Moore used to chew and suck his steak until he thought the juice was out of it then spit it out? There wouldn't be many getting around doing that you'd think.

Man when i get a good streak that sucker is gonna be inhaled.

Ken Norton and/or his team were of that ilk also - at least earlier in his career.

I’ve read multiple IVs in which Norton said that he starved himself during camp.

Norton was just 205 lb for the Ali rematch. Ken had seen some higher weights prior to that - perhaps 216 lbs max?

Later, Ken settled into about 220 lbs - 224 lbs nicely.

Though Ken did drop his weight again for the Ali rubber - maybe coming in at 215 lbs or so?

Weight cut in a stupid manner does not make one the same size and strength of Bang.

Pfft, same guy couldn’t get Joe Parker out of there.

Zhang is a 4 round exhibition boxer. Being big and fat isn’t helping him. He’d do well to eat a salad or two, trim down and get fit.

True and Zang is bigger than Foreman. But Foreman is stronger.

Foreman is stronger than Eddie Hall ffs! When will people ever realise that he had that old school 'mega power'? That FUNCTIONAL boxing power? Imma start calling him Forteman from now on in order to recognise properly his giant strength.

Wow its almost like modern training methods and nutrition is better than the witchcraft they were resorting to back then. Can't be right, surely.

Sure and I can post the Lyle fight again where Lyle had no problems at all in landing stiff ones to Foreman's face and outboxing him early.

In other words, the version of Foreman we are talking about sucks significantly in a particular aspect.

Myself, I pick the version of Zhang where his team had him do two hours of cardio work every day. Clearly a version of Zhang with a great gas tank would destroy Foreman. I pick that version.

Really kills the discussion when you immediately just shift to something else instead of acknowledging a point.

If you base your whole argument around the low point of someone's career, that's intellectual dishonesty on your part. Foreman didn't have mindless face first defense. Now acknowledge it so we can move on.

He was hardly a defensive wizard ffs. If you choose to ignore a fighter's weak points in favour of some constructed FORTEman reality, that's on you.

Nobody said he was a "defensive wizard" ffs. Do you think every boxer is either a mindless face first caveman or a defensive wizard? Did you know there's various levels between the two extremes...?

No one is ignoring the Lyle fight, I literally brought it up before you even did when I made a break down of this fight.
