I've rarely seen such an open display of terrible refereeing as Luis Pabon in the Matias-Paro fight.

He obviously did not want Paro to win.

Should Luis Pabon be suspended from boxing?

Clearly he was looking out for the hometown fighter. Thankfully that bogus point deduction wasn’t enough to let it affect the decision to the rightful man.

Probably, but I'd rather see some judges suspended 1st

Luis Pabon has a history of very dodgy, biased refereeing.

It was a disgraceful, biased performance & there should be consequences for it.

I reckon the IBF supervisor must have said something to him after the point deduction b/c he pulled his head in after that.

Up until then, he must have issued 20 or 30 warnings all of which were directed at Paro. Virtually none of them were justified.

I don't think I've ever seen a refereeing display that one-sided in a world championship fight (big statement). Credit to Paro & his corner for maintaining composure while that was going on. I don't think too many other people would have.

If you think that biased referees are not part of the game, then you haven't watched more than 3 or 4 fights in your life.

Biased referees are like the ropes, or the ring, or the bell, or the gloves.... they have always been there, they will always be there. They are something a fighter needs to take into account in every fight. And a good reason not to take a fight if you think that the risk is too high, I must add.

Eh, for how corrupt boxing is and how dirty Paro fought throughout, it wasn’t that horrible all things considered. Paro did his fair share of shoving, clinching, and holding and hitting so it’s not exactly like he’s was fighting to the letter of the rules either. I’m glad he won and he deserved the W but he could have had a lot worse of a treatment from Pabon (who has always been quite openly in the pocket of a lot of guys over the years to give him his props).

Paro was fighting two men last night, but still he persevered.

But the state commission should be watching these suspect officials & haul them in to explain their action while watching a tape of the fight. Trouble is the commissions appear to be just as crooked & corrupt themselves. They ignore horrific ridiculous scorecards & home fighters actions too When have you seen any official dragged in & investigated?? I can only remember one CJ Ross for her card of 114-114 for Canelo & Floyd. She was fired !! Why because it was against the chosen fighter Others far worse have been ignored

This is why referees should be of a different nationality from both the fighters. We also saw the same favoritism harvey dock displayed towards his boy haney.

The deck is always stacked against the Aussies when they fight overseas.

Shameful, blatant display of favoritism. With how the ref had acted, I was ready for the judges to screw Paro out of that hard fought win. Thankfully they had more decency than that.

I've seen boomerangs that were straighter than that referee.

Paro was like "What is the point deduction for? Having a meal? A succulent Puerto Rican meal?"

I was getting pissed. After it was blatant, I watched the ref and the match. That ref had his eyes glued on Paro. It's crazy!]
