I would be fine if this were treated the way Canelo treated Yildrim. Just a quick stay busy fight, is all. Fought Smith in December, Yildrim in February and then Saunders in May.

But this ain´t it. This is just a waste of time.

If this was the era where fighters fight 4 times per year then yeah you can have a soft touch but if you are fighting twice per year nope, every fight should be a good one.

Inoue will likely fight 3 times this year, if he wants a soft touch fight Goodman that was the soft touch I was expecting. Doheny is scraping the barrel, I would be disappointed if this fight happened.

The only "soft touches" I can get behind are mandatory challengers because that has to happen for them to keep the belts.

Any other soft touch for a champion is poor

 Holy ****! Ring has him in their top 10? After loosing to Goodman, Conlan and whomever that guy in Dubai was?
I strongly disagree with that one.

Almost all of his losses were at 126 so idk. I also thought he at least got a draw against Roman a couple years back

I don't know why TJ Doheny is even considered a ranked fighter at 122. I recall him receiving a very controversial decision when he won the 122 title from Iwasa and he hasn't beaten anyone of note afterwards. It's pretty insulting to have an opponent of this level lined up against a Top 3 P4P without earning it.

Youre gonna love this one! The Roman fight was 5 years ago  I swear, it feels like yesterday.

And the subsequent losses were all at 122, with the exception of Ionut Baluta, which took place at 126. However, this was Baluta´s only fight at 126 as he too competes at 122.

    5 ****en years ago...

Inoue has his eye on the P4P list at the end of the year. The more wins over Australian fighters that he has, the more highly he will be regarded in comparison to his competition. Currently, Inoue only holds a win over Jason Moloney. He's looking to add TJ Doheny (who has fought his whole professional career out of Australia) & Sam Goodman before the year is out. That will give him a Fear Factor rating of 3. Bud Crawford, by comparison, only holds a Fear Factor rating of one (Jeff Horn). Usyk doesn't hold a Fear Factor rating at all which is why he recently expressed a desire to return to Cruiserweight. Fighting Jai Opetaia will gain him a Fear Factor rating & enhance his long-term historical standing in the sport.

To be honest I’m ok with the fight either way. Inoue is staying at 122 until about this time next year anyway so one stay busy fight is ok with me especially because he’s so active.

Remember if Goodman hadn’t decided to mess around and take a tune up it would be him in September then likely MJ in December instead. Also this extra fight gives Junto more time to clear up 118 and then move up for a super fight before Inoue goes to 126

Twink would slap a rehydration clause on TJ :deal:

The PBC smoke & mirrors that is Twink's resume

How many actual real world champions has he fought and not WBA regular champs?

How many were shot to hell?

Dragged up in weight at least 1 or 2 divisions?

How many were champions at the weight he fought them at?

Were world champions long before he fought them?

Now ask all those questions about Inoue who, unlike Twink who ducked back down to his 2nd weight class because those guys were ''too big'' for him up there'' after cherrypicking the WBA regular paper champ at 140, became undisputed in his 3rd and 4th weights classes and has been fighting real world champions not WBA regular ones, champs who were in their primes almost all of whom if not all were champs at the weight he fought them at, not fake champions, dragged up in weight, shot to bits champions who were champs long ago, or champs weakened at the negotiating table with rehydration clauses.

Inoue is a legit four-weight champ. Twink is a legit two-weight champ but it was only a legit one-weight one until he was recently upgraded to full WBA champ by his good buddies at the WBA after Haney vacated his belts

Of the 10 'world champions' he has fought

Yuriorkis Gamboa was the WBA regular champ, 38 y/o and shot to hell and was a real world champion way back in 2013

Cristobal Cruz was 38, shot to bits, a world champion way back in 2009 down at 126, as was 1-7-2 in his last 11 fights

Hugo Ruiz was a world champion down at 122

Jesus Marcelo Cuellar was a former WBA regular champion down at 126, a career 126 who never fought at 130, and was coming off a 16 month layoff and a loss but was somehow nominated to contest the vacant 130 title with Tank.

''Somehow'' meaning that someone has a very cosy relationship with the WBA and one could easily be forgiven for thinking that the WBA's palms are being greased by someone they shouldn't be in return for favours because the WBA, and the WBA regular belt, is a recurring theme here

    More on the Cuellar corruption

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/davis-cuellar-alberto-machado-and-wba-corruption.606231/

Mario Barrios was the WBA regular champion at 140 who won his belt via a hometown gift from his three home judges against a seven fight novice. Not sure if he's been upgraded to the full champ at 147 yet or not but he earned his shot at the WBC interim belt after going 1-2 in his previous 3 fights, the KO loss to Twink at 140 and getting schooled by an injury-ravaged inactive Keithy who hadn't fought in 2.5 years. Barrios won the interim belt against Ugas who earned his shot at it by getting the soul beaten out of his body and stopped in his previous fight by Spence

Leo Santa Cruz was the IBF champ at 118, the WBC champ at 122, the WBA champ at 126, and he won the WBA belt in his previous fight, and only fight at 130, when paired up for the vacant title against fellow 126 pounder. Twink was always a 135 pounder not a 130 and his size and power advantage was always going to be way too much for 122-126 pounder Leo who prior to then the hardest puncher he'd faced was probably blown up 122 pounder Frampton

Hector Garcia was the champ at 130 and dragged up to 135

Rolando Romero became the WBA 140 champ in his very next fight after getting knocked out by Twink down at 135 when he was paired up against a 40 y/o Barroso for the vacant title despite the fact he'd never fought at that weight and, as said, was coming off a KO loss in his previous fight.

The corruption was on full display as soon as they announced the fight. It was supposed to be a gimme for Rolly to pick up a free world title but Rolly is such trash even senior citizen Barroso (who was KO'd by KO32% Anthony Crolla way back in his prime) not only dropped him but was soundly beating his ass prior to the corrupt as sin ref having to intervene to make sure everything went according to plan and Rolly left the ring with that belt wrapped around his waist

The ref called a blatant push a KD in Rolly's favour and then later dived and waved the fight off over nothing in what was one of the most brazen displays of corruption you'll ever see

And let's not forget Rolly also got his ass whooped by Jackson Martinez prior to facing Twink but the three home judges robbed Martinez blind.

Jose Pedraza was the IBF champ at 130 and the WBO champion at 135

Isaac Cruz Isaac became world champion by beating the useless Rolly

As for Twink's 'Three weight world champion'' status

He became a two weight 'world champion' after being paired up for the vacant WBA regular belt against a shot always chinny 38 y/o Cuban leprechaun Gamboa who'd stopped 2 of his last 11 opponents.

And he became a three-weight 'world champion' when he beat Barrios for the good old WBA's regular belt. Loma was the real WBA world champion but he wanted zero part of him

Everyone knows Josh Taylor was the only world champion at 140 because he was, duh, undisputed but apparently he ''brought nothing to the table'' other than his four world titles, Ring belt, and P4P ranking. Barrios brought more than him

Twink is an excellent fighter but his resume is trash. He had over 220 amateur fights and has been a pro for 11 years but his best win still to this day is Pedraza who Loma took on as a tune up just seven months after shoulder surgery when not near 100%. Loma's surgeon strongly advised him to not come back that quickly and when Loma refused to listen he advised Loma to devise a game plan which revolved around not throwing his right hook.

See what I mean about smoke and mirrors?
