Are there any rules Liam Paro didn’t break?

Liam Paro got away with a lot of fouls. People complain a lot about the point deduction but let’s not pretend like Paro fought a clean fight either. If it were Devin Haney who had fought that way against Subriel there would be a half dozen threads shouting about how he should have been DQed outright. The fact of the matter is that Paro shoved, clinched, rabbit punched, low blowed, headbutted, held and hit, stepped on toes, kidney punched, and roughed up his way to victory. Paro did not fight within the rules of boxing and I wonder if there are any rules he didn’t break in this fight?

That's a lot of passion right there to spout a humongous load of pony tripe.

Paro won that fight fair and square. A bit of shoving and clinching, so ****ing what? It's a fight. Show me where that doesn't happen. The rest is BS.

When Fritzie Zivic was asked about a particularly rough fight he said" I wasn't in there to win no lollipops" Maybe Subriel should go into the candy business instead.

He did a lost of pushing that's true but lets be clear he was fighting in his opponents home town against a rather bias ref, if he was half as bad as you suggest he would of been disqualified.

He repeatedly shoved and clinched throughout the fight, both of which are against the rules of boxing and can be met with point deductions and disqualification when repeated against the warnings of the referee. He repeatedly came in with his head and headbutted Subriel on multiple occasions. He threw rabbit punches and punches to the back. He broke the rules again and again, it was anything but fair and square. Had he not been allowed to foul, we would have gotten a better, more competitive fight. Paro’s dirty tactics robbed the fans of a potentially great fight. It doesn’t matter who’s doing the fouling, the sport of boxing has rules like every other sport and these rules should be upheld.

Pabon seemed pretty lenient the whole fight and very rarely took action against Paro and when he did Mannix started screaming at him like a child. I think he understood who Matchroom wanted to win and it wasn’t the badly marketed Puerto Rican with a small fanbase and who nobody wants to fight. A Puerto Rican fighter in Puerto Rico with a Puerto Rican ref, commission, and judges in a back and forth fight with loads of swing rounds and a point deduction and not a single judge found a way to shade it 114-113 to him? Seems a bit odd. One judge had it 8-4 for Paro and it just wasn’t the type of fight imo. Matchroom wanted Paro to win I believe because a stadium fight in Oz against a guy people will want to fight will draw so much more money for them than a dangerous fighter who’s high risk and low reward and doesn’t have a substantial enough fanbase to justify fighting him. I’m not saying Subriel took a dive or that Paro didn’t deserve the win, but the decision could have gone either way yet didn’t for the home fighter, like it usually does in a close fight. Eddie’s usual spiel after the guy he’s backing loses in a close fight is “well, I thought it coulda gone either way y’know, we’ll get the rematch, get him back on top, it’s a small setback but we’ll bounce back and reevaluate…” so on and so forth. His shiny new toy Subriel loses though and he’s grinning from ear to ear saying Paro put on a clinic, a masterclass, and that he’ll get a massive Aussie stadium booked for him to fighter either Hitchens or Prograis probably. Pabon warned Paro three times in the first round alone, once for shoving and twice for butting as well as gesturing for him to keep his punches up iirc. If a fighter fouls three times after two warnings that should be an automatic point deduction. That’s what the rules of the sport state. Pabon is an incompetent ref and always has been, he was trying to warn Paro but mostly failed and I think probably knew that Matchroom wanted Paro to win because he was the more profitable guy. Contrary to popular belief, I actually think that Paro was the A-side here.

You forgot to mention that he kept punching Matias in the face, that **** is not allowed in Puerto Rico it could've lead to a massive riot with half the crowd fighting and the other half quiting.

The respect Matias showed to him at the end of the fight tells you everything you need to know about the type of fight he fought. He was rough, and sought advantages, but he wasn't trying to cut eyebrows or break arms or rabbit punch excessively. Fighters know where Paro was in terms of his fight plan and what it was. Just because people are wrong about Haney, that's no reason to expect them to be wrong about Paro.

To be fair I just watched the highlights Paro doesn't seem the most talented just tough, solid and got his tactics right.

Matias seems a more dangerous fighter but limited boxing brain. He probably has the ability to beat Paro in a rematch but that's unlikely to happen until he picks up a title himself.

If this was a voluntary and Matias didn't have a rematch clause then he's been stitched up by his team.

    Matias is beyond average anyway
It's best he isn't representing a division so good to see Paro take home the belt

If you are headbutted then you headbut back. If you can't then you punch his balls, punch him when the referee says "stop", or after the bell or hit his face with you shoulder bone, your elbow or whatever. If you don't do that and instead you do nothing but complaining to the referee and you lose the fight, that's YOUR fault and your fault only.
