When Norris let those hands go, he was terrifying. Floyd would not win this one. Bad, bad matchup imo.
I think Terry Norris would overpower him he wasn’t as smart Floyd but he was just too big and he had a bad attitude.
Floyd clearly the greater fighter but 154 was his worst weight and he’d be up against one of the best ever in that weight class. Norris would have all the physical advantages and think it would show. I expect Floyd to hang tough but he doesn’t have the offensive arsenal to discourage Norris, I don’t think. Norris by UD.
Stop saying **** like this............ At JMW Floyd respectively fought: Oscar (# 1 JMW at the time) Cotto (# 1 JMW at the time) Canelo (top 3 JMW at the time). Saying he would never fight prime Norris makes no sense.............it doesn't hold up to scrutiny that he would avoid the top person at JMW because he actually did not avoid the top when he hopped up to that weight. Original question: Floyd and Norris' frames are similar builds and Floyd had a far greater reach advantage, So there actually wouldn't be much of a size advantage for Norris. Norris was much faster in combination but Floyd had a quicker, longer jab and better feet (not faster) and that's how the fight would be fought. You can't get off combinations against Floyd consistently. This never happened his entire career. Floyd was also better off the counter. Floyd also showed more durability in his fights. I can see Floyd UD12 and it pains me to say that as Norris is one of my 10 favorite fighters ever. The Floyd that Canelo fought would definitely UD Norris IMO.
Northpaw makes some good points about Mayweather's defence ability and record at 154, but De La Hoya and Cotto were absolutely nowhere near the offensive threat at 154 Norris was, and the pre-Mexican supplement Canelo fight was a catchweight. The problem here for Mayweather would be getting any counters off without getting blasted by one of the fastest, most fluid attacking fighters ever at that weight. The memories of De La Hoya bulling Mayweather to the ropes are too strong for me. Norris via UD after being on the front foot all night.
Another bad night for FMJ - A prime Norris would represent a step up in class and a new level of challenge for Floyd. Norris W TKO 11
