How did Haney become so powerful in the professional boxing industry?

He got a gift if a decision against Loma, fair.

He didn't weight bully Prograis though.

He didn't force Garcia to **** hot neither.

How does Mayweather have anything to do with this? He’s been retired for how long? And there styles are nothing alike so what’s up with bringing him up?

 

Because the boxing establishment has been trying to manufacture another black American star to be their next Mayweather. Haney was supposed to fill that role, as was Broner, and as Shakur and Tank are doing now. An entire generation of American fighters have been warped by the impact of Mayweather and Ward on their perception of what makes somebody a star in this sport. Everybody wanted another PPV megastar and lot of powerful folk in boxing politics pinned their hopes on Devin and cleared the path for a bit here and there.

 

Devin in my eyes is an above average boxer with a decent jab and great conditioning, no way is he on Mayweathers level, and why would the powers that be push for Devin to be a star ? Why not back Bud,Spence, Tank, it’s a lot of guys way better and more exciting throw Norman Jr in that mix also.

 

Yet MR doesn't even wanna bid Haney Martin and the WBC took Ryan's side. Ryan is an even bigger cashcow than Haney and with the entire situation with Ryan things could've went far quicker and more efficient if they wanted Haney to be the next star. Other than the rules in place that a cheater gets a no contest, who or what is specifically on Haneys side, can you answer ?

 

He's not powerful.

How did he weight bully Prograis and others? You make weight you make weight. This weekend we had a 6'1" guy fight at 126, is he a weight bully?

Spence: has the charisma of a 2x4, is too "Texas", and polite individual. Arguably they did back him, he has been a protected fighter to a degree. ARGUABLY protected. Ward had similar charisma/persona and he didn't make nearly as much money as Mayweather. And Ward's keystone victories are against a Russian in an anti-Russian environment. I bring up Ward to say Spence has some of the same shortcomings for attracting the boxing establishment's attention.

Many of the same. The polite, well-spoken Austin Trouts of the sport get robbed or overlooked time and again.

The outspoken, brazen personalities get media attention, draw fans, make money for boxing, so they get protected whether in dodgy decisions or with easy opponents and a shitload of hype. Wilder. Both Charlos. Tank. Haney's dad. RJJ. Broner.

Truly Mayweather did it best though, a master of drawing the media.

 

I mean, look at the disgraceful way the WBC protected Wilder, although they were just as pitiful in their behaviour with Fury.

America, for decades, was the literal home of boxing - be it financially, spiritually, emotionally, only that's no longer the case.

The majority of ATGs are American fighters, and so maybe there is something in the idea that it's about trying to reposition the U.S as the number one again, in whatever context that comes in.

Ideally, that would be returning Vegas as the number one destination for the biggest fights to counter a growing Saudi interest, perhaps it's about refocusing American kids towards boxing and away from MMA and the huge appeal of the N.B.A etc...and having American fighters as champions to sell the sport back to them is important.

No champions, means less media interest, which means less money, which means less interest from the public...and so on.

I'm only thinking out loud here, by the way, so don't jump down my throat if you think I'm wrong.

Haney was 165lb day of the fight. To me, that's a massive advantage. Prograis was chosen b/c he's not big at 140lb. ......just like every fight prior to that. That's weight bullying.
