First major fight of the Summer of 2024, and what a way to start the season. Clash between the old guard - current Super Flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada and the former unified Flyweight and former one WBC Super Flyweight champion Jesse Rodriguez. P4P clash between two superb fighters.

Rodriguez should be the favorite. Youth, activity, signed with Matchroom, fight is in his home state of Arizona and etc. But nothing would make me more happy if Estrada can stretch this dimwitted, boring, no personality, hobgoblin aka known as Bum Rodriguez.

    WAR ESTRADA!!! :ggg:ggg:ggg

I going with youth and say Rodriguez beats the aging champion. Estrada has not fought in 18 months, that inactivity could cost him against the younger lion.

This is the fight I’m very looking forward to. Gallo is a warrior and has had a great career with amazing fights but he’ll be up against a younger, more talented fighter who is hungry. I’m curious to see how much more Estrada has left and if he can give Bam all he can handle.

I’m thinking this will be a passing of the torch kind of fight similar to that of Erik Morales vs Daniel Zaragoza.

What a great, great, great fight. This is such a great fun fight.

ON the one hand, Estrada has that left hand and proved in rounds 1-6 against Roman that he could give ground to elite pressure while scoring scoring scoring with good punches. He's got that wide variety on his left-handed shots that Rodriguez hasn't seen before, he'll go all the way across his man for a left hook to the far hip if he can/has to, hooks abound. Right hand is more a sneak punch, you can actually tell how well the round is going for him by how many meaningful right hands he throws. But Rodriguez has also seen that consistency of pressure and volume can force Estrada into a disorganised retreat, providing many scoring opportunities.

Gonzalez was the best general of his generation outside of Mayweather though. Gonzalez needs to get his **** together so far as a fight plan is concerned and he needs the discipline to execute it, too, even if it's not going quite right in the early stage. All that said, thirty-five years old and inactive is not a good recipe for Estrada. Bam is the sensible pick and I presume that is reflected in the odds.

Winner gatecrashes the p4p top five.

Great fight, I’ thinking Estrada has enough left to upset the young phenom. I think he’s got that one great performance left in him and I reckon he’ll use it here.

damn this flew under the radar for me. I cut my DAZN sub when Bam hit the scene so I have missed his rise. I have rooted for Estrada for a long time now and I would love to see him cap off an excellent career with a great win.
