Do you think technique evolves?

You addressed nothing and then acted superior when you know NOTHING but keep yapping. Maybe learn a bit about the sport before opening your mouth.

I didn't act superior. I told you how it was with regards to training and how boxing can't evolve at the same rate in its 150th year as a sport in its 31st year.

And just like MMA fighters improve over time so do boxers just like Volk, Holloway, and Edwards are better skill wise then any fighters who came before so are Loma, Gennady, Usyk, Inoue, Crawford etc I don't see why that's a wild claim.

It isn't ridiculous but I disagree because, in my opinion, the rate of sport development slows as time goes on. To think otherwise may be assuming a linear progression, which is a logical fallacy in my mind. MMA shot up 200 percent in technique recently. That is remarkable and only happens so often in a sport's lifespan.

What revolutionary techniques were discovered this century? Indeed, what tangible point(s) in time provided the boxing world with never before seen techniques, or cutting edge highly refined techniques unlike anything seen previously?

Well, if you squint your eyes and focus on the feints from Nick Ball, you'll see he tips his left hand to the right and at just the perfect camera angle, you'll see him sticking his middle finger up through the glove and flipping off everybody who said that.

Talent pool smaller today than back in the '80s? Maybe in the US - but worldwide? I don't think so!

They are techniques that are more viable with smaller gloves, and you can also notice a similarity with how Gans controls his opponent’s glove while he’s punching, similarly to Louis.

I think so personally, the 1980s had a lot of really strong fighters from all over. Azumah, Sanchez, Arguello, Benitez, Duran, Mike McCallum, Khaosai. I feel some countries like Korea had champs in the 80s and not many since. Then domestically in the US: SRL, Hagler, Hearns, prime.Tyson, CW Holyfield. It seems stronger to me then personally

That being said I don't know the stats on the percentage of champs from each country 1980s vs. now nor the amount of participants in amateur boxing then vs now

The guys you have mentioned are not more skilled than anybody who came before them.

And if you think otherwise, you really are exposing yourself.

I'm not talking about which era was the strongest (which of course is a matter of opinion). I'm strictly commenting on the size of the pro talent pool - which clearly is much bigger today than in the 1980s.

Take a look at the number of "Active Boxers By Year" (post of 19 May 2019), that can be found in BoxRec's database:
Total Bouts in the BoxRec Database: By Decade - Page 4 - BoxRec

As we can see, the worldwide talent pool has more or less doubled over the last 40 years!

The numbers may be up, but the actual talent and popularity are down.

I wonder how complete the records are for periods predating BoxRec's existence. If I'm reading this correctly, peak # of bouts happened in the late 20s and throughout the 30s, slowing down for WWII, and then picking back up in the late 40s. And in terms of # of boxers, looks like 1930 was the high point.

I do wonder if things get less complete as venture back in time. I would THINK that things became more complete in recent years, but perhaps that's a poor assumption.
