His career so far is unprecedented in terms of getting opportunities made for him. When he turned pro there was a lot of excitement for the young prospect, but that happens all the time. Typically, then you start seeing them on some undercards for a while and they work up the ranks.
This guy became the most over promoted unaccomplished fighter I can remember seeing. He got a shot a Joyce, a series contender and the time and a big step up in terms of talent, and got KO'd. But that didn't matter, because he then fought some little known journeymen and somehow got the paper WBA title, despite so many other top ranked contenders being in the division. He then gets saved by an early bell to a opponent who was relatively new to the HW division. That earned him a shot at Usyk?????
Which of course he lost by KO. Then he beats Jarrell Miller (Decent, albeit fat opponent), and that gets him a HW title eliminator fight?
He did beat Hrgovic impressively, but he did not earn that fight. The amount this guy has gotten thrown into big fights is puzzling, because, why him?
What would the sport look like if this was the normal way of doing business?

Young, powerful heavyweights getting promoted is pretty common I think, but to me what makes Dubois stand out is how quickly they maneuvered that bogus WBA title fight vs Trevor Bryan after losing to Joyce. Some serious money changed hands there.

Yeah, he is brit. AUS/US/UK get a special treatment.

Europeans need to work 3 times as hard, just to be able to fight a top 15 in any version.

AND if they lose even one time, that's it. It's over for them.

Brits can lose many times and still get a chance to fight top guys.

    SICK.

Me too. and having 2 L's hasn't hurt his earning power or his ranking - he's about to fight for the IBF title.

I have always contended that a loss really should not hurt someone's standing that much if they perform admirably. I know he gets accused of quitting in his losses to Joyce and Usyk but I felt he fought well in both fights. I think the quit accusations are pretty unfair vs Joyce

He's gotten nore opportunities than most but you have to give him credit for taking hard fights and bouncing back. People wrote him off after the losses as they tend to do but he came up with a huge win over Hrgovic and now he's probably in line for a massive fight against AJ. I'd much prefer someone who takes risks get a shot over someone handpicking fights to protect their 0.

His early fights were boring and british stoppages. Now he has good momentum. Only if he can improve his defence he can do well against AJ

Dubois is already the IBF champion, he was elevated today. His fight against AJ will be his first defence of the title

@senpai easiest place to win world titles is the tiny weights where most of the world doesnt have boxers and theres a new weight division with world titles every couple of pounds

japanese in the lower weights, get it easy, a few fights and they get a world title shot. cause the midget weights are so **** and thin and theres stupidly new divisions every few poxy pounds.

Dubois took losses but came back and beat Hrgovic against the odds. He's fought his way back to earn his shot. Whats wrong with that.

Don't you dare to disrespect Japanese fighters. They are working hard, unlike brits

Japanese fighters are terrible from Featherweight and above. Absolutely ****.

If you took away all the pathetic divisions every poxy 2 or 3 lbs down in the midget divisions nobody cares about. And just made one division of Flyweight. There'd be about 90% less japanese 'champions'.

That’s gives him as much credibility as his old WBA regular Title belt.
