    Unfortunately
This whole league has become a JOKE
    @Chuck Norris
    Your updates are pathetic
The amount of errors you make and the lack of quality control you exhibit are a disgrace to anyone who has ever tried to account for anything meaningful…
Let alone a silly online prediction league
I find it difficult to imagine how you can even try to present yourself as some sort of “official” in this league

And for the pompous loser @CST80 who has decided he knows what is best for this league…
You have driven this once great league into a total failure
You have this DELUSIONAL idea that 85 fights a month full of obscure bull**** matches where you can get ONE IN TWENTY upsets (I’m a DAREDEVIL) right will lead to a better competition…

    Lol, yea ok
@Drinquor STILL WON THE WHOLE LEAGUE IN 2023
How do you explain that? How do you acknowledge that?
You choose to ignore it right!
    Yea **** you
And you still finished 20th or whatever…lol
    Robberies right???

But wait…you are the DAREDEVIL winner right???
Lol, like that’s the real winner!
    Cool story bro

    @kirk
    The league is dead
How do you plan to save it???

    @CST80 is to blame
I have been here for over 13 years, won the LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP TWICE and have never been banned
But you can CENSOR ME NOW
I have no desire to ever post here again

im sorry it came to this @kirk

Okay, I'm sure Chris is gonna come here later and will articulate himself better. But to put it simply. Drinquor.....your such a loser. Genuinely, I won't say anything else. For you to put so much emotion and effort in your post, just shows how empty your life must be. I'm sorry for whatever is happening in your life, since it's probably very unfortunate.

While @Drinquor was overly harsh in his assessment he did bring up a very good point. The amount of fights on the prediction list is extraordinarily counterproductive.

    1. The time it takes to do even minor research on each fight can be daunting.

    2. There are so many fights involving boxers people don't care about that interest in playing in the contest is immediately lessened. This especially pertains to possible new players and new players are the life's blood of any ongoing long term contest like this.

    3. So many fights make it considerably more difficult for those keeping the standings to do a timely and accurate job.

Drinquor said that the amount of fights was a big part of the problem and since this is my first year in the league I didn't want to take his word for it. I did some research. All numbers approximate.

    2017 - 425 fights
    2018 - 470 fights
    2019 - 460 fights
    2020 - 260 fights (Covid)
    2021 - 640 fights
    2022 - 715 fights
    2023 - 985 fights
    2024 - 440 fights through June

As you can see, while @CST80 is making good on his promise to have less fights in 2024 the numbers are still stunningly more than 5, 6 or 7 years ago. Chris, I truly admire your love, knowledge and passion for the sport but you are a rare bird even among hardcore boxing fans. As the contest is currently set up it is ideal only for people like you. I really think that if you go back to pre-Covid numbers for 2025 you will get more players to start with and more players who participate the whole year.

I'm going to play no matter what but this is my two cents worth from a 67 year old rookie's perspective.

    Good points @Fogger.

I agree with all the things you said..

and I understand the frustration of @Drinquor, he did an immaculate job running the tally a few years back and a fierce competitor.

@Chuck Norris did make a some mistake in the tally, I tried to correct them earlier but it becomes too time consuming, so I just let it slide.

As for @CST80, his passion and contribution to the league and forum are enormous, so I can look past all the shortcomings as @Drinquor stated.

I love boxing and I love the league.

It makes me watch more boxing in the weekend. And Instead of just watching, it makes me root for something.

The amount of fights don’t bother me as much but I can see that it could deter somebody to participate, so I’m open to some reduction.

I hope we can work out a solution to keep this running. This is the best boxing forum on the net, and the league is part of it. It would be a shame to see it cease.

Because the updates, as per usual become too much to deal with, especially when it's thankless, we're not being paid for any of this and it's done out of sheer passion. Usually whoever is doing the updates can only do it for so long before getting burned out. You got burned out, Pinoy got burned out, I got burned out, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Chuck gets burned out. Quite frankly I'm amazed that @nellybc is as indefatigable as he is. But this is a lot to have dropped in one's lap, and while Chuck has made his fair share of errors, there's a learning curve when it comes to doing the updates, and that's why we ask people to check, just in case, to see if any mistakes have been made. From that perspective he's been improving. I don't think he was presenting himself as any kind of official, even though at this point, he is, because no one else wants to step up and do the updates, and he has. I think his frustration was rooted in sharing a similar passion for the sport as I do, and a passion tor the league and he hates to see it shedding players.

Although when it comes to the dwindling numbers, there's some extenuating circumstances with a few of the regulars, that can't be helped. Sadly as good as he was at doing the updates, Drama Show was a hated and despised poster in the British Forum, and he was permabanned, because of the sheer number of people reporting him. Long time poster and personal friend to me on here, lepinthehood was sadly also permabanned. I'm not responsible for either of these bans and I'd reverse their bans in a heartbeat, but Mods tend to not step on one another's toes and override one another's bans, it's an unwritten rule on here. Pinoy has been verging on bailing for quite some time, due to real life simply getting in the way, and not having the time to dedicate to the League, or to even posting on the site. I'm hoping he can re-find his passion, but he was a very young man when he started posting on here and circumstances change when you move into adulthood. As far as David B is concerned, he's far too concerned and personally invested with the situation in Ukraine at the moment, as anyone who's frequented the Lounge in recent months knows full well, the Ukraine thread is well over 1000 pages, mostly filled with his posts. He's implied he'll be back in the future.

Chanox, evidently even being paid, this was too much for him. Which goes to show you how much of a pain in the ass this can be, as you're well aware.

Pompous loser? Where did all of this animosity come from? I thought we were cool with one another? Or at the very least, in a far better place than we were pre-Covid. When it comes to putting together the Fight List, Pinoy handed over the reins to me voluntarily, it certainly wasn't a hostile takeover. You stopped doing the updates, I never forced you out and certainly didn't want you to stop doing them. If you had all of these complaints, you could have easily shot me a PM, I've been quite receptive in recent years, I certainly wouldn't have bitten your head off.

As far as being a pompous loser goes.... I've long ago given up hope at ever winning this league, I'm far too erratic, compulsive, emotion based and ADD to play it safe and take zero risks. Sure, I could, but that would bore me out of my skull, and yes... I get a rush out of taking gambles. So I just do this for fun at this point. I rarely start bitching and moaning if I take an L due to a robbery. It is what it is. So I'm certainly not pompous about that anymore. Now... does that mean that I don't genuinely believe in many of the upsets I pick? I certainly do. There's also some picks that are based on my love of some fighters and hatred of others. Anyone who knows my tastes well enough, should know when I'm going that route. Two recent examples, picking Frank Martin and Gallo Estrada, I can't stand Tank or Bam. But... I play with my heart like a fool sometimes, and pay the price, no big deal.

In regards to the number of fights added to the list. It certainly isn't to pad any stupid ass Daredevil record. I've always wanted many obscure matches added, that's something I've been whining about since I joined back in 2014. Long before there was any Daredevil competition. Merely because I think that there's countless competitive hard to call matches that fly under the radar that should be added. Quite frankly, even looking at the July Fight List, I don't think anyone can truly argue against the additions of any of them from a competitive standpoint. I said I'd scale back and as @Fogger just pointed out, I have to a certain extent, although yes... I could and probably should do better. But when scanning over Boxrec, anything I see that clicks as hard to call, I view as Fight List worthy. As far as the competition goes, you're in 3rd place, and the competition is heated among most of the guys at the top of the leaderboard. So I urge you to stick around as well.

Fine, I'll make an attempt to weed out some of the more insignificant matches from here on out, so I won't alienate other members of the League, and chill the gruelling overwhelming pace I wanted to set. Although there's also the part of me, that loves the passion of having a large FIght List can inspire. Because it forces League members to seek out as many matches as possible and watch the deep undercards, making for a far more well rounded fan. I think people forget, I started out doing Educate Yourselves threads for a reason. I love trying to instill the passion I have into others. I've always viewed this as a global sport, that should be far more inclusive and I want people to be aware of obscure fighters and obscure fights. Which is another reason why I've gone out of my way to be receptive to the international players concerns. So I include fights from all over the world, and thanks to YouTube, Streaming Apps and Twitter, it's a hell of a lot easier to keep track. So it came from a genuine place with me.

I'm sorry that your name was not added to the thread title, but as I mentioned before Mods don't step on one another's shoes. I didn't want to trample on the toes of @kirk by adjusting his thread title. But I'm all for you being added to it, and acknowledged as last year's winner. Congratulations for winning last year, it was a brutal breakneck pace and you pulled off winning in the toughest year in League history, you're a beast Drinquor. Sorry I wasn't more attentive and should have said something myself. But I was so concerned with recruiting new players for 2024, and focused on what's next, I didn't pay proper attention. That and I can be a bit aloof and detached at times, as well as depressed especially around the holidays.

Also, not to make excuses, but I've been burned out for about 3 years now and have been running on fumes as well, not just with boxing, but politics and society in general. I've barely been posting in the General, just check the Lounge, I've spent the vast majority of the last two years, writing movie reviews of all things on that Mulholland Drive movie thread. All of the robberies and just the general direction of the sport recently, has been alienating me more and more, and has wreaked havoc on my levels of passion, which pains me greatly since my passion has long fueled me.

Add to that, my personal life has been a disaster for the last year and a half, and unlike in the past, I'm managing it much better than I used to, I've ceased lashing out and stopped making a scene on the RBR's. Transference has always been one of my weak points, so I am proud of finally getting that more toxic aspect of my personality under control to a degree. Still, the personal issues, including legal issues of someone close to me that I'm helping, and health issues for several close family members, which have been mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting and overwhelming and have been all consuming. So I have been more distracted than usual. Mercifully, things have calmed down in the last few months. Real life has been taking a toll on many of us lately, and I'm certainly not immune.

My name isn't in the thread title either. While close... I didn't win the Daredevil competition last year, @khaosai galaxi did 69-68. No one has ever claimed that was the real winner, granted... we did add the Lone Ranger comp, but only after Pinoy approved it. Again, I'm not making anything about me lately, hell... I've not even checked whether or not my current record is accurate. It could be off by several wins or losses, that's how little my current ranking actually means to me. I'm just focused on getting the Fight Lists put up, and doing the RBR's, which are exhausting.

Most years there's only 15 or so players left, I think it's a bit too soon to proclaim the death of anything. It's quite easy to save. We can all do a better job, myself included. As I said earlier, even though I already have to a degree, I will scale down the Fight List even more.

I'm not going to ban you or censor you. You said your piece, you aired out your complaints and I'll do my best to address your concerns. Personally I'd like to see Kirk add to the first Reserved post of the thread, a list of past winners Hall of Fame. Because we compete for bragging rights and glory, and as a two time winner, you definitely deserve your props.

I'm not allowing you to do your best impression of Kneeguel Cotto. Over a petty silly dispute.:nonono You're doing a good job this year, and at this rate after everyone else bails, you might win by default.:sisi1
