How long does 95-96 Mike Tyson last vs peak Joe Louis?

So Mike Tyson of 95-96 falls through a time warp to 1941 to fight Joe Louis. Could the Tyson that beat Seldon, Bruno and McNeely defeat Louis?

 

Probably roughs Louis up for the earlier rounds, until Tyson starts to slow down and Louis can capitalize on Mike’s defensive flaws at this stage with devastating accuracy. I see Mike getting stopped around round 8

 

It all depends on Louis' strategy here. If he's too cautious and doesn't take charge, Tyson could really hurt him, bad.
I think that the fact that Tyson was able to survive till the 11th round against a roided out Holyfield while getting bulled around the ring the whole time shows that he still had a lot left in him, even if he wasn't the same man that he was 8 years earlier.
I wish that we had something to measure Louis' punch against a roided out Holyfield's punch, and though I'd like to say that Louis' punch was superior, I just couldn't bet on it.
Holyfield put Mercer on the mat, and Tyson stated that his punch was even better than Lewis during their encounter, it just seems crazy, but Evan Fields really is a hard measuring stick here.

 

It would still be possible for Tyson to win, & if scalped, he would rank among Louis’ better wins, even in his diminished mid-90’s state. But I don’t pick even a prime Tyson as favourite over Louis, & this incarnation had lost the hunger, discipline, & combinations.

Louis makes him quit on his stool after seven.

 

At this stage in mike’s career Louis will massacre him.

There's a good chance Louis gets knocked out in the first round, it was as late as 1999 when Tyson sparked Botha with one of the greatest right hands in the history of the sport, 1996 was the Tyson from the first Holyfield fight who was still a phenom, a beast completely unlike anything Louis was ever up against, watch how Tyson and Holyfield open up in the first round, I think the pace and intensity at which they clashed would just be too much for Louis, he would be overwhelmed and if Tyson lands even somewhat clean but still on target it's over, Holyfield had a way better chin than Louis

 

I take it you don't like Louis chances vs an 86-88 Tyson?

 

I actually think 86-88 Tyson would be a better fight, I think 96+ Tyson had deadlier 1 punch finishing power, as good as 86-88 Tyson was I think he would still be a bit "green" compared to how "mature" prime Louis was, this is a good example of ring generalship where I think Louis would be vastly superior, 86-88 Tyson is more likely to keep charging in and make mistakes Louis can capitalize on

Buddy Baer lasted longer than that. Even 95-96 Tyson was a step above Baer and would have wrecked him.

 

Agreed. Louis would still have to tread at least somewhat cautiously in the early going. I do feel pretty confident he would win this - Tyson was a lot easier to deal with once the punches started coming one or two or three at a time. Far different to his blazing, energetic peak, when seven or eight accurate shots were the norm.

Don’t think we’d see a massacre but Tyson gets thoroughly demoralised in rounds six & seven & decides he’s had enough in between stanzas.
