Innocent...and didn't Richardson also have a problem with Trinidads wrappings amongst others also in his fight against Joppy. Richardson making accusations damaging fighters reputations for his own agenda. Has a trainer ever accused as many fighters as Richardson for illegal wrapping's. I don't believe so.

Umm, you seem to be mistaken.

Richardson defended Trinidad’s wraps vs. Joppy and said the issue with the wraps vs. Bernard were because it was in New York, which has different rules.

    http://www.fighthype.com/news/article17202.html

He differentiates it from the situation with Margarito, which he points out is illegal in every state and in all combat sports — inserting solid/hard blocks of padding under the wraps. Which was illegal in California and everywhere else (and in MMA as well as boxing).

He was most likely innocent. As I understand it the issue had to do with Margarito using old wraps and this being why calcium and sulfur was found in scans of the wraps because they were present in his sweat. Trace amounts doesn’t mean he used plaster of Paris since the materials used for that are found in loads of stuff, if you rubbed wraps against drywall then tested it plaster of Paris it would probably come back positive. You need calcium sulfate to make plaster of Paris anyway, it’s a quintessential compound for it and it was never found in Margarito’s wraps. The case for Margarito having used loaded wraps is so flimsy that one of the central arguments is ‘look at Cotto’s face’. Cotto who cut easily and was facing a bigger man and repeatedly being hit clean to the head, that’s the guy who proves that Margarito used loaded wraps. If Margarito had used loaded wraps against Cotto, then Miguel would not be alive right now and he sure as hell wouldn’t have lasted 11 rounds if he were getting pummelled with concrete slabs. Margarito wasn’t ever a big puncher anyway, he was an attritional guy who wore you down with volume rather than being a big one-shot puncher. It was the accumulation of shots that got guys outta there. He still broke bones on Pac and Pac says that Marg’s punches hurt more than anybody else’s, that he was the hardest puncher Pac ever fought and that was after the Mosley controversy. Shane was always going to be a horrible style for him, Pac is an ATG who busted his eye, and Cotto just kept targeting the eye Pac had already damaged. Margarito had had a long career where he had taken a lot of damage and was slowing down, as well as going up in weight and fighting the best series of opponents he had his whole career, that’s why he never scored any KOs after Cotto 1. The arguments for either side are pretty thin though and there’s no way to know conclusively but “innocent until proven guilty” and all ya know?

I am a little confused by your argument. Both the Joppy and Hopkins fights against Tito were at MSG in New York.

I'm not discussing this any further. No one & I mean NO ONE has provided one iota of proof regarding Margarito's guilt at all even the commission were to cowardly to try to explain their actions
As far as Mayweather goes you are doing exactly what Pimp C, Mayweather's cheerleader
did & just ignore the question about his guilt because like me you know the truth. As far as I'm concerned Mayweather doesn't exsist any more. Y'all can idolize who you want I refuse to respect cheaters PERIOD !! I'm more interested in the PBR Professional Bullriding these days than boxing Now those guys do have stones & there Man vs a 1500- 2000 lb bull no cheating involved there he has to ride him for 8 seconds. The Bullfighters that protect the fallen cowboys by making themselves look easier targets qre either the bravest or craziest people I know. Have a great day

Richardson never explained why he lied about seeing "Plaster Blocks" fell from the wraps or the CSAC Insp that obviously never saw any "white substance" when he observed Margaritos wrapping Only after Richardsons ridiculous claim. Was he incompetent or was he lying too???

Doesn't matter if it was 50 years ago an innocent man's good name was tarnished & his career ruined over what initiated it were blatant lies. Don't forget Mosely is a proven & finally self confessed Peds abuser. He was obvious juiced in that fight too

Yes but you've made this point 10000+ times before I don't see why you feel the need to keep ranting about it for years and years.

Things annoy me in boxing aswell but I don't let it consume my life, once I've made my point about a particular fight the next day I move on with my life.

It's even more baffling you've bumped a 5 year old thread to continue the same arguments and rants you've been doing for years, hence that's what I mean by it becoming more of an obsession and letting it consume your life.

You just need to let it go it was in 2009 we're in 2024 now if you want to believe Margarito is innocent that's up to but trying to force your opinions on people is the not the way to go about it just move on with your life buddy life is too short.

My bad then regarding Joppy and Trinidad. Could have sworn I read he has issues with Titos wraps. Thanks for pointing that out for me.

He inserted some wet, hardened padding that was illegal.

I don’t care if he called them cinder blocks, bricks, granite or boulders … they were illegal.

You’re quibbling over terms. EVEN THE TRAINER admits what he put in the padding was not legal. There is ZERO QUESTION that what he did was against the rules. Neither the trainer nor Margarito himself have ever disputed this.

    Case closed. Move on.

Not guilty. There is most certainly reasonable doubt regarding these allegations, and therefore this is the most logical conclusion
