Lol There's no real need. If countries have that many current boxers, there's no excuses for how poor they are at boxing. Some of these countries with lots of pro boxers, are absolutely terrible at boxing. And some people wrongly assume they don't box, because they can't get to any good level. Which is far from the truth as this list shows, they simply aren't good enough.
More as a matter of interest, for me to potentially reflect on why certain nations have higher levels of population entry into the sport , regardless of talent level
Boxing holds a different place in different cultures. I'm totally shook that Australia has that many pro boxers
With the high population that India has there's bound to be a portion of them that take up boxing, even if none of them are ranked at all.
Surprised to see only 12 active fighters from Lithuania. 2 of them are, or have been contenders in recent years, the other 10...all losing records. Overall record of 65-363-1 among the 12. Russia on the other hand does not, yet they have done admirably well on the world stage (credit to the Soviet school of boxing).
Thanks a lot! Yeah the Soviets knew how to box, who's your favourite boxer from the Soviet school? The Soviet style is often used synonymously with the more upright , less creative European styles (historically - you get all kinds of fighters from all over today) I was always surprised by India's low participation in boxing, I know having such a massive population can skew the numbers, but they have an unbelievable sporting culture, their passion for the sports they invest in is second to none, yet there isn't really a domestic or international boxing scene there
